Yesterday was the Birthday of Tamilnadu CM Karunanithi. Technological revolution has made "flex printing" a very affordable one. With the result, kilometres of the road route He was taking - from his house to thiruvanamiyur - was littered with small and big FLEX hoardings and plastic flags and plastic buntings (I am specifically not mentioning Plantain trunks , as they are bio degradable)
We all know what plastic contributed towards the Mumbai Floods couple of years ago.
We all know that the plastic is one of the worst land pollutant, as they do not degrade naturally
We all know that recovery and recycle is most applicable to plastics
The pollution control board showed lot of courage in going against the Bhogi burning / and coloured Vinayaka statues - a commendable measure (though both are against weak Hindu beliefs)
Would the pollution control board have half that courage to tell the politicians to clean up ?
From my experience, the pollution officials neither care nor capable of stopping this plastic pollution (or even ensuring proper cleaning and recycling ) by the politicians.
