On an interpersonal level, game based learning fosters cooperation, competition and recognition. On a personal level it provides, challenges, fantasy, curiosity and control. These are all elements of intrinsic motivation. According to the New Horizon Report 2012, game based learning is one of the five trends that will have a huge impact on K-12 learning in the next five years.
