I can't believe it's that time of year already, though the balmy 50 degrees today made it seem more possible. I'm getting our seed order together. The garden here at Teach and Song is still sleeping soundly under the snow, but preparations are already underway to ensure it provides us with snack-time abundance in the warmer months.
In the coming months we will be starting basil and cilantro in trays and potting up Sungold tomatoes and Russian kale. In Session 2, we will be able to get our hands in the dirt - turning over the soil for sweet potatoes, digging deep to add some asparagus crowns, thinning the strawberries and pruning the blackberry and raspberry bushes. My head is swimming with carrot varieties and lettuces and dreams of watermelon fresh out of the garden.
