Pilot

Rabbit Rally 2 allows you to have a pilot device for the driver to look at while driving. Not only is this easier but it also allows the navigator to make corrections along the way without disturbing the driver. Non of the buttons work on the pilot device.

A Rabbit in Pilot view can also be a Crono device giving you two GPS readings. The MiRally system selects the reading that gives you the best score plus with multiple sources chances of failure go way down.

Here is the Pilot Documentation

Setting up Pilot Device

I find it's a good idea to reboot all devices before setting up for a rally.

Before setting up Pilot you should setup your main device and be sure it's running.

Be sure Pilot device has same version of rally Rabbit as Main device. If you are using the Digital Roadbook make sure it's on both devices.

Bluetooth Setup

Turn Bluetooth on.

Go to Connections screen and select Rabbit Pilot. It will prompt you with the names of available devices.

Select your main device, it should now show as connected.

Return to Navigation.

WiFi Setup

To use the wifi connection you need a wifi network in your car. You will need to set this up with your devices or some new cars come with wifi in the car. I don't have one so I can't tell you how to set that up.

If you have 2 Androids you can use Wi-Fi Direct. Newer Androids come with this built-in, older ones may require you to download it. You will need to figure this out for your device. Once you have Wi-Fi Direct setup it will issue an invitation to nearby devices running WiFi Direct. Say yes to the invitation.

If your phone has a Hotspot capability, set it up with the name RabbitRally and the password 653190044. This will allow the MiRally SmartControl GPS to upload data.

Once you have a connection, go to the Pilot Connections screen and select WiFi. It will give you an IP address with the first 3 sets of number filled in. You provide the last set from the connections Pilot Screen on the main device. If you are doing this at home be careful to turn off the connection to your home wifi. I find to best way to do this is just be away from home or any other wifi you phone my try and connect to. It should be using cellular for internet connection as that is what you will have when driving around.
