What is this story?
It's one part epic adventure and one part spiritual text.
It's autobiographical in nature, and contains nearly equal parts of fiction and non-fiction.
The protagonist is a young man named David Rin, who struggles with his desire for purpose and an unyielding addiction to magic and romanticism. Tormented by his own self-awareness, he's searching for contentment at what ever cost it may incur.
Each chapter is based on a real adventure that I've taken, arranged so that the main narrative structure becomes focused under the lens of the text "Be Here Now" by Dr. Richard Alpert, who subsequently became Baba Ram Dass following his own search for contentment.
It's in this fashion that David Rin has come to be a stand in for myself, enacting the same adventures, taking the same photographs, but all the while exercising demons that belong solely to him, so that the lessons I've learned from "Be Here Now" may be lived vicariously through my writing, in the actions of the main character.
