Prepare the Problem Statement (3-5 pages)

1. What is the specific problem your paper addresses?

   1. What key question emerges from the problem?

   2. What is your purpose in addressing the problem?

   3. What are the implications for solving it, not solving it?

   4. What information is most relevant to the problem/solution? For example, what is the event or series of events that was a catalyst for action or change? Is there an assertion or premise that needs to be tested? issues that should be addressed?

   5. What concepts, theories or ideas should be considered, for example, criteria for evaluating options?

   6. What are the points of view that are represented by your research question/problem statement?

• 1. What will you analyze? How will you do so?

  2. What is the relationship between the problem and the goals? [Create a graphic.]

If needed, revise RQ to match your problem statement.
