Grace and Peace from God our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ our Savior:We are anticipating a blessed and magnificent week during our 83rd Annual Congress Session. We have high expectations to engage God for information, inspiration, and elevation. This Congress is highlighted with collaboration and coordination of leadership, teaching, preaching, and worship.
1. For the Ministers and spouses: We ask you to participate in the “Light on Leadership Processional” on Sunday Night (Black and White attire). This is emphasizing the chosen of God on one accord. We are one association with more than 100 ministers, we must work toward UNITY. The Prayer Breakfast at 7 am and the Systematic Theology Class will follow the official opening, each to be held on Monday. On Tuesday Morning, Pastor D. L. Richardson, PhD will lead our seminar on “Leading Change” from 10 am-12 noon. Dr. Richardson is the Consolidated Missionary Baptist State Convention’s (CMBSC), Congress President. He is also an author of several books. Our ministers’ seminars will continue on Wednesday and Thursday with lectures and sermons each day.
2. Pre-Musical: Is shaping up to be a Pentecostal experience, don’t miss it! Rev. D. A. Jones, Minister of Music and the district choirs are ready to praise God in an awesome way (Black and White attire)! The Southwest District choir will rehearse Sunday July 9, 2017, 5:30 at Rising Star.
3. The Dean will highlight new instructors and classes during his address this year. We have many capable and committed teachers, who will do an excellent job. However, one class in particular I would like to highlight is “Creative Ways of Teaching” taught by Dr. Janice McCoy. I highlight this class because we have a unique opportunity to cross over into secular education with her skills, certifications, experiences, and Christian commitment. We hope to offer professional development hours for school teachers (in the near future), while at the same time developing Sunday school teachers, VBS teachers, and teachers in the district, i.e. teachers in general. (see her unique qualifications)
4. Dean’s address on Monday night, President’s address on Tuesday night, and Youth Revival on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
I hope to see each of you there!
Pastor Alvin Hunter, CCE President
