Alvin was born September 1, 1956 as the second child of John and Esther Hunter.
He completed high school at Okolona High School, Okolona, Arkansas and went on to finish at Red River Vo-Tech with a diploma in bookkeeping. He holds a diploma in “Pastoral Studies” from the Sunday School Publishing Board Division of Christian Education Accreditation and Credentials in Nashville, Tennessee. He was called into the ministry in 1977 and set under pastoral tutorage from Rev. H. R. Green, who was then, the Pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Okolona, Arkansas. He received training in ministry from Rev. G. H. Jones who was the Pastor of 1st Baptist Church, Okolona, Arkansas. Rev. Jones was also the president of the Southwest District Congress of Christian Education at that time.
After four years as an evangelist and tutorage studies in ministry and biblical standards, Alvin became the pastor of the Bright Star Baptist Church, Schaal, Arkansas in October of 1981 and remained there for the next 11 years. During that time he was anointed and excelled in teaching. He then became the Vice President of the Congress of Christian Education in the Little River District Baptist Association.
In 1992 the Lord moved him from Bright Star as pastor. Shortly afterwards, the Lord led him to Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church, Hope, Arkansas where he has served as Senior Pastor since February, 1993. Alvin served as Vice President of the Southwest District Congress of Christian Education from 2008-2014, and was elected as president of the District Congress in July 2014. He also serves as Vice President of Section 2 in the Southwest District Association, he is a teacher of Baptist doctrine in the congress and the SWD Musical Auxiliary. He is currently serving in the Arkansas Consolidated State Congress of Christian Education as a teacher of “A Survey of the Old Testament”. He serves on the Executive Boards of the Southwest District Association and the Consolidated Missionary Baptist State Convention. He also serves as the webmaster for the state convention. Alvin has been certified to teach by the Sunday School Publishing Board in the following subjects: 1)Baptist Doctrine, 2) The Lord's Supper, 3) Leadership Organizational Skills, 4) Developing Skills for Sharing Your Faith, and 5) A Survey of the Old Testament.
Rev. Roderick McCollum, 1st Vice PresidentPastor of First Baptist Church-Rockport, Malvern Rev. Rodrick L. McCollum Sr. was installed as Pastor of the First Missionary Baptist Church Rockport in Malvern, AR where he served for several years as Assistant Pastor under the leadership of his father, Dr. J. N. McCollum. As well, he is the current President of the Southwest District Division C Choir. Rev. McCollum truly has a servant’s heart and is an asset to the body of Christ. He was called to preach the Gospel in 1995, and for 20 years now, he has been proclaiming the Good News with joy!Pastor McCollum is a native of Malvern, AR. After high school, he went on to further his education at the University of Central AR and then on to Capital City College, where he obtained a Marketing Degree. He also received an Associate Degree from Glad Tidings Bible College. He continues to be a student of God’s Word… ever learning. He is employed by Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield as the Distribution Coordinator.
Pastor Rod currently resides in Benton, AR with his wife, Demetria McCollum. He is a caring husband and a devoted father to three wonderful sons, Rodrick Jr., Ryan and Raylon McCollum.
Rev. Bobbie Hampton, 2nd Vice PresidentAssociate Minister of Roanoke Missionary Baptist Church, Hot Springs Married- Dorris Jean Hampton, 5 Children, 20 Grand Childrens & 8 Great Grands
He was born May 23,1957, in Dermott, Arkansas the 8th and last living child born to Richard & Myrtle Hampton. He completed high school at Dermott High School, Dermott, Arkansas. He join the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1975, where he served 10 years and 3 years in the Michigan Guard, with the rank of sergeant E-6.
He was ordained a deacon in 1988 at the Johnson Chapel Miss. Baptist Church, in Michigan. He was called to preach the gospel in December 1993, under the leadership of Pastor Andrew Beal, Gethsemane Miss. Baptist Church, Hot Springs, Ar. In September 2000 the Lord led Him and His family to the Roanoke Miss. Baptist Church, Hot Springs, Ar., under the leadership of Dr. L.R. Massey, where he also served as Youth Minister. In 2006, the Lord lead him to Pastor the St. Clair Miss. Baptist Church, Bursell Community for 2 years. He has received an Associate degree in biblical studies from the Glad Tiding Bible College, Malvern, Arkansas. He is also a certified Teacher in the Southwest Distist Congress, teaching Introduction to the New Testament. In May of 2015, he received his certification from the Sunday School Publishing Board, Nashville, Tn., for becoming a certified Dean of Christain Education.
