Textbook Project

In 2011 I joined Gladys Kober to help create a High School curriculum integrating science and faith using Astronomy as a tool. The book is titled "The Crossroads of Science and Faith: Astronomy with a Christian Worldview". The first section of the book is also available as a separate excerpt entitled: "The Crossroads of Science and Faith: An Introduction to the Science & Faith Dialogue"

Our specific goals include:

* strengthen student faith

* prepare for questions that students will face in a secular environment

* encourage Christian students to pursue scientific careers

* educate Christian students about misconceptions about science that are common in some churches

* expose students to professional scientists - so they know they aren't alone (the textbook includes interviews with professional astronomers who are also profess Christ)

Freedom Project Education

I recently became involved with home schooling at the High School Level. In the Spring of 2012 I will be teaching an online physics course with Freedom Project Education. Our textbook is "Exploring Creation with Physics". The class consists of online lectures, problem sets, experiments, tests and a semester long project to dialog about the relationship of science and faith. I believe these two ideas are completely complementary to each other. My underlying goal is to teach the students how to evaluate evidence presented to them at any level and to build a coherent argument supporting whatever their conclusion might be.
