We will take the Domes and Dripstones tour, which covers 0.75 miles  (1.2 km) in two hours, including 500 stair steps.  ("Effort:  Moderate.")  Cave temperatures are around 57*F (14*C ).

From the Mammoth Cave National Park website:   "Visitors with known heart or respiratory problems, poor circulation or difficulty walking long distances and negotiating stairs, should carefully consider their limitations.  Evacuation from the cave to a hospital for medical attention could take several hours.  If you have a fear of heights or suffer from claustrophobia, this tour is not the best choice for you."

With over 400 miles (660 km) of cave passages, Mammoth Cave is the longest cave system in the world. The optional excursion includes transportation to the National Park (about 45 minutes by bus), a guided 2-hour tour into the cave, and access to the Visitor's Center and above-ground nature trails. 

7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19:   Conference Banquet  ($35)

The banquet will be held at Mariah's restaurant (360 E. 8th Avenue), which is about a 20 minute walk from the meeting site, or 15 minutes from The Hyatt Place.  The Hyatt Place will provide shuttle service for those participants lodging with them, and the organizers can provide shuttle transportation for any others who do not want to walk.    The banquet will be a buffet including chicken and vegetarian lasagna.
