Due to the Corona Virus (Covid-19) outbreak recently, there is an uncertainty regarding the opening up of the university for an indefinite time till the situation concerning the deadly virus is controlled in the State. The lecture notes for this subject will be kept on uploading in this web page. For an easier understanding on the topic, I have provided each and every details of the calculations.  I request all the students of this class to check  my webpage regularly to get any recent update on the uploaded material.

A new lecture note on  "The Sun" has been uploaded on May 12, 2020 (sun.pdf). You may kindly download the file. This is the last file covering the course. If there is anything remaining, we will cover them within a few days.

Note:

(i) Kindly download the programs bisect_test.cc and fact.cc. The first program finds the root of the equation 1-exp(-x)*sum_{i=0}^{7} x^{i}/i!=1/2. This equation arises in de Vaucouleurs Law (for an elliptical galaxy). The

latter is a subroutine to calculate the factorial in the given equation called by bisect.cc (Added on May 16, 2020).

(ii) All of you are requested to download the updated file "galaxy.pdf".
