Gas grill revamp and tuneup

I always admired my neighbors shiny chrome gas grill. Over the years the smell from his backyard was heaven. He was a batchelor, a workaholic, and a dayum good methodist. One day he up and got married and moved away. The new guy is a good egg. He takes care of his wife who has had numerous eye operations and dust smoke and the such cannot get near her. So one day he meets me at the fence and says: this old grill was left here by Tom would you like to have it? My goodness yes I would. So I dragged it up the driveway and parked it next to the swing in the shade. It was intact with propane jug. It was in sad condition tho. This one had a great body , a nice set of grates and a very clever new design. Instead of lava rocks this one used burner guards! I cleaned up the cobwebs removed all of the burners(all three were comepletely disentergrated). I checked the side burner It worked perfectly! The only thing wrong was the burners. I looked around for some on line(all were too expensive and not the size) I wandered into the garden department this spring at Wally world and found em. Replacement burners. These were $10 apiece and they were adjustable from 10 to 20 inches( sliding managerie, a pipe within a pipe, like a trombone). Each burner had adapters to attach to the grill. No orifice adjustments were needed. A good vacuuming and with burners replaced I Got a fresh jug of gas at CVS pharmacy for 22 bucks and I gotta tell ya, that grill is the best! The grates are large, thick, and easy to clean. The cooking surface is made so that the food wont slip through the grates.

To start the grill I remove the grates and burner guards. I light each burner with a stick lighter. I get the flames to an even pretty blue on each burner. I cover the burners with the guards and replace the grates. I close the lid and wait till shes around 400F. Then it is grillin time baby! As the food gets good color on each side I kill a burner to create a cooler spot and move the food to there so it won't get burnt up. Close the lid and pop the tops. This grill cooks evenly and I beleive I could bake a cake in it! TY Tom.
