Brief description of myself
I am a Dr. Mechanical Engineer, graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,Greece. My Ph.D. was referred in the analytical and experimental description of PVD coated cutting tools. More specifically, I dealt with the characterization of coatings’ mechanical properties with advanced methods and the effect of PVD coatings' mechanical properties on coated cutting tools’ wear behaviour during various manufacturing processes.
The core of my Ph.D. work focuses on the development of experimental and analytical procedures to determine the mechanical properties of thin hard PVD coatings. For the investigation of coatings' fatigue fracture mechanisms innovate methods were used. My target was the correlation of the corresponding results with the coated cemented carbide inserts' behavior during machining with interrupted material removal and the analytical verification through FEM calculations.
I have experience in a machinery environment and in manufacturing processes with material removal, such as milling and turning. I have conducted experiments at several devices such as CNC, in a large variety of steels (hardened, stainless etc.) and aluminum alloys, coatings’ characterization devices, such as impact testers, nanoscratch and nanoindentation units. Furthermore, i have qualifications in CAD/CAM systems and in mechanical drawings.
