In the fast changing landscape of today’s Ontario, the village is becoming lost to urban and suburban development. Originally written in 1988, St. Williams: The History takes an in-depth look at the two century rise of a community in the province’s hinterland. The first edition went out of print shortly after publication and is now available in a second edition in PDF format sent by e-mail attachment. This edition includes all of the original stories plus more pictures and more detailed genealogy of the founding families.
The 183 pages include over fifty stories from a blend of historical research and the memories of the community’s oldest residents. There are more than eighty pictures of the village and villagers taken during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The work is fully indexed.
R. Robert Mutrie grew up on his grandparents' farm at St. Williams and is a long time Norfolk County historian and genealogist. He is the author of The Long Point Settlers and The Long Point Settlers Journal.
