This historic community is located on the present Regional Road 16 a short distance north of Long Point Bay and its spit of land that juts out into Lake Erie. Take Regional Road 24 south then west from the Norfolk County seat of Simcoe. At the Forestry Station take Regional Road 16 south. The village of St. Williams was formed by the owners of the farms on the east and west sides of the Townline Road between Charlotteville and Walsingham Townships, Norfolk County and officially dates from 1838 when the post office was established. The first settlement in the area dates back over two centuries to 1790.
The area is predominantly rural specializing in farm crops, orchards, forestry and sport fishing. Around the turn of the nineteenth century there was considerable industry in St. Williams making the name well known with its products sold across Canada. It has since settled back into its agricultural roots.
