Introduction
String Designing is a way to develop different models that would be hard to create in a regular classroom setting. String Designs are a vibrant and somewhat effortless way to create stunning geometric designs to study with. The people taking part in these designs will begin to comprehend important geometric concepts such as symmetry, point, segment, angles, parabolas, hyperbolas and cardiograms.
Driving Question: How can this project be accessible to technology and crafting?
Materials
1 Sewing Needle
4 Threads
Tape
Scissors
Designs Directions
Pattern Card
Procedure
Begin you design by pushing your threaded needle through the first point indicated by the directions of booklet. Follow the directions carefully and try multiple designs so that you may gain some experience with the activity.
Using the blank pattern card, use the graph drawn on the back to create your own design using your own number and side patterns.

1. How is the string design made?
On the front of the card, it's covered with a black sheet of material, which will ultimately show the final design. On the back, there is an arrangement of numbers that indicate where and when the thread is inserted. By following the design arrangement provided in the instruction booklet, the thread can be inserted from the right place (from the front side or the back side) and be inserted into right slots as they are numbered.
2. How does this relate to geometry?
Geometric shapes can be represented by graphical sets of number. A point on a graph can indicate a corner of a part of a side of a shape. Consequently when a set of points are given in a certain way (i.e. with extra instruction) then this data can be translated into a physical figure, which is in this case a design made out of string.
3. What importance would symmetry have in a real-life situation?
Symmetry can effect the functionality and aesthetic quality of an object. When an object is symmetric it makes certain qualities stand out. In a machine symmetry can effect the wire distribution so that every part of the machine is powered reasonably and evenly.
4. How does the process of creating the string design similar to real world situations?
Our world is full of numbers. When building an edifice numbers are used to measure and predict the size of the rooms and property. When using or creating a computer software or image numbers are used to present the images on the screen. Patterns and orderliness is key.
