Madurodam
Rotterdam, The Netherlands, 2012ink on paper, video, dimensions variableMadurodam series is an evocation of the myth created in and around the miniature park of that name in The Hague. Bringing together hundreds of Dutch architectural landmarks, the miniature city was built as a monument and opened in 1952, with fourteen-year-old princess Beatrix named as mayor.
The project consists of ink drawings, focused on the persons of George Maduro as the park’s namesake, Queen Beatrix as its former mayor and architectural landmarks, as well as of videos, contextualizing the project in a flat in peripheral district of Rotterdam.
