Handicap System

Each player starts the season going to their established goal.

New members generally start with a 60-ball goal, although the league director may change the starting goal based on perceived skill. After each win, the goal goes up by 5 points; after each loss the goal goes down by 5 points.

There is a 150-ball maximum goal and a 25-ball minimum goal (see chart below for the exception).

When players win going to 150, their goal remains the same for the next match, but their opponent’s stated goal is reduced by an adjustment. The 150+ adjustment increases by 5 points with every win. However, their opponent’s stated goal can’t be reduced to lower than the minimum number on the following chart. When playing a 150+ player, the lower players’ goals will be reduced to no less than the following.

Listed goal between Minimum goal vs 150+ player

25 to 35 15

40 to 50 20

55 to 65 25

70 to 80 30

85 to 95 35

100 to 110 40

115 to 125 50

130 to 140 60

145 to 150 70

150+ 100

For example, if your stated goal is 60, you would go to no less than 25 when your opponent is going to 150 with an adjustment of -35 or more.

Players may choose to go to more than their calculated goal, putting themselves at a disadvantage to add to the challenge.  They  may not choose to go to a lower goal without the consent of their opponents.

Goals in the end-of-session tournament are 1/3 of season high goals. However, no player in the tournament will go to less than 14. The top players invited to play in the tournament are determined by number of wins, then number of losses for players with the same number of wins. The Leaderboard is sorted to show the standings on this basis.

Starting in Spring, 2024, players may record as many matches as they can play in the session against another individual player. Everyone is encouraged to play as many people a possible throughout the session. A gift card will be given to the player who has played league matches with the greatest number of people in the session. Another gift card will be given to the player with the highest run. Danny's high run won't count for this prize.

Matches are recorded in the log book in the ball cabinet. Keep track of high runs over 25% of your goal.
