Our Christmas Services
'Carol Service' a 45 min service where we sing the favourite Christmas carols with traditional bible readings in-between. The St John's Community Choir will help us in our singing and will also perform for us. A great informal event for all.
'Crib Service' a 30 min service aimed at the very young (obviously all are welcome). Children place each character from the Christmas story into our wooden stable, we learn about them and sing simple carols.
'Midnight Mass' yes, it starts at 11.30pm! It is a traditional Communion service (see below) but we sing carols and, of course, Christmas Day starts half way through the service. Very popular, warm and welcoming.
Our Regular Services
As a church, we are here to help you grow in your faith and to accompany you on your spiritual journey, whatever your age. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and friendly but also recognise when you might want to 'be alone'.
Available services are shown on the front page
'All-Age Service' a 45 min event aimed at children and parents but certainly ok for other adults. Easy songs, simple talk, easy to understand. Informal.
'Communion Service' a 45 minute service which has a ceremony of 'Communion' at the centre. A few, more traditional hymns and a 10 minute talk by the vicar.
During the 'Communion' we come together at the front of church and are offered a small wafer ('bread') and a sip of wine to remember the 'Last Supper' shared between Jesus and his friends. Everyone can take part, often people don't take the wine, often people take neither but come to the front anyway.
All traditional but still in normal English!
Easy service to just sit, listen and be alone with God or to take part with others.
