1960s

1960s was a time of CHANGE.

My personal memory of this was fashion (Mary Quant), boutiques (Biba), music (the Rolling Stones, Ready-Steady-Go), ready meals (Vesta Beef Curry & Chow Mein), eating out with friends (Wimpy bar), magazines (Honey, Petticoat, NME) & making my 'mod' clothes (patterns, fabrics, knitting, sewing)

Reversible cushion cover, handmade

Oblong linen cushion cover (appx. size 12” x 10”/30cm x 25cm) c.1960s – stitched in stranded cotton.

One side with bird & floral design worked in various embroidery stitches, the other side in a hardanger design. Both typical of the transfers & instructions from womens magazines of the time
