March 30, 2016 - Added Verplanck Colvin's Original Survey Map of the Beaver River

A special thanks to Mary Kunzler-Larmann for sharing a one-of-a-kind map. This is the original survey map of the Beaver River created by Verplank Colvin in 1878. This is a beautiful map that Mary researched and located. It came in several sheets that she combined to create the complete image you see below. The map's detailed imagery begins down river from what is now the reservoir. When you move from west to east and see "Rapids #2", just east of that is where the current dam is located. The "Sedge Islands" shown on the map are in the current small bay east of the dam. The image you see here is a downsized version of the map.
