Campsite Information

In the chart below, I've provided detailed information about the campsites at Stillwater in order to make choosing a site easier.  Campsite maps can be found on the paper maps page.

The DEC has a VSA agreement with Boy Scout Troop 61 out of Skaneateles, NY for the installation and maintenance of the pit privy’s at Stillwater.  According to the ranger, as of the summer of 2017, all sites now have privies.

The "Distance" category is in miles measured from the boat launch using the safest path possible (not as the crow flies).

The "Min Water Level" is measured in feet, and gives you an idea of how high the water level should be in order to safely access the site in a motorboat.  The typical daily change in water height is about 1 inch.  Use the linked website value which updates every 15 minutes.  The number written on the pavilion board is not always updated.

The "Traffic" category gives you an idea on the level of boat noise and foot traffic to expect at a site.  Some sites are in popular areas and will attract more people.  Some sites are close to the most heavily traveled boat routes.  This is all relative of course, since the reservoir is a much quieter place than almost anywhere else in the state.

The "Island" category helps you locate the island sites quickly.

The "Sandy Beach" category is pretty self-explanatory.  Keep in mind, the sand at Stillwater is on the course side in most places and most beaches disappear at high water.  Also, the accuracy of this column is not perfect.

The "Notes" category provides any additional information about the site.

Please read the DEC Camping information and rules linked under the "Government Links" section.  It also lists information on the handicap accessible "Raven Lake Campsite", which is not listed here.

Recently campsite capacities were changed by the DEC.  All those sites previously with capacity of 8, were changed to 9.  However the three campsites with capacity of 20, were changed to 12.  Meaning total capacity increased by 19.

On mobile devices, click the document below, and then in the upper right corner menu select "Open in new window" to view the full Google sheet.  You can sort by column by typing on the column letter twice.  In the upper right menu, you can "Create a Filter", then click on the column header you want use to filter data.
