July 6, 2016 - Added the Verplanck Colvin Triangulation Map

Post date: Jul 07, 2016 2:54:38 AM

Thanks to Jim Fox for providing another excellent addition to the "Paper Maps" page! This is an original Verplanck Colvin triangulation map, circa 1872, which shows Stillwater Mountain was used as a triangulation point in the original Adirondack survey. Jim located this map in researching the history of the Stillwater Fire Tower at the top of Stillwater Mountain. He helped lead the effort to restore the tower, which reopened to visitors on July 2, 2016. Great work, and thank you to Jim and all the volunteers for their hard work. Please visit their website and Facebook page (Linked at left under Orgs & Social Media) to see tons of pictures, and find more details on the tower and its location.
