July 4, 2017 - Adirondack Park Agency 1978 Aerial Photography

Post date: Jul 05, 2017 2:37:31 PM

I located more aerial photography, this time from the Adirondack Park Agency (APA). The imagery was taken November 1st and 2nd, 1978 and the water height was 1665.43 feet. Although this is a higher water level than the 1952 aerial imagery, the 1978 imagery is higher resolution, showing slightly more detail in places. Once again, I had to manually ortho-rectify the imagery, so it should not be used for navigation on the water since I fine tune the imagery for the area I'm working on. I changed a few routes and hazards as a result of this imagery. I also added a bunch of new routes, and performed a bunch of minor refinements to fix things that had been bugging me for a while. Please update the routes and hazards data on mobile devices.

I would like to thank John W. Barge, of the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) for scanning the imagery they had in house. I would also like to thank Aero Graphics of Bohemia, NY for providing permission to share the data on this site. The APA also supplied imagery from 1968 from a different aerial photography company. However, the water level was high (~1676 ft), so I did not go through the process of manually rectifying it.
