About Us

Step up Support was established in January 2012, by Carole Ainscough and Liz Byrne, two social workers with over twenty years experience working for Sheffield City Council.

Their knowledge of the needs of adults with learning disabilities, their sound understanding of personalised budgets and the self directed support agenda, helped shape the service offered today.

Carole and Liz set up the social enterprise ‘Step Up Support’ based in the community. Our premises is a four bedroomed house in south east Sheffield. A dedicated staff team work closely with management and are supported by volunteer company directors.

Step up Support aim to maintain a safe and comfortable homely environment, with an easy going atmosphere. We have a good sized kitchen area which is used to promote skills around cooking, baking and domestic tasks.

The house is based within a good local community with many easily accessible facilities.

We are registered with The health and care professions Council; and qualified as Social Workers in 1989. Since then we have continuously worked with, and supported adults with both learning and physical disabilities in Sheffield.

Step Up Support is proud to be a Social Enterprise. a company limited by guarantee No. 7923210, where profits are re-invested to benefit the aims of the company and those using the company’s services. The service is registered with the C.Q.C.
