ELA Component

Journals

  • January 3-6, 2017: We choose our project that will be based on a homemade 3D printed drone. We are really interested in this project because it looks very fun and enjoyable to do.

  • January 9-13, 2017: We found a website for our project and it contains everything there is to know about it. Such as basic information, materials, how it work, etc.

  • February 6-10, 2017: We designed our bases using a program from a laptop from our class.

  • February 13-24, 2017: We had our teacher, Mr. Demirturk, print our bases for the drone with several attempts to get the best result.

  • February 27, 2017 - March 3, 2017: Our teacher ordered the remaining materials, which were the motherboard and the wires needed to control the drone.

  • March 2, 2017: We are creating the ELA Component and SS Connections pages. They are needed in order to complete Tasks 7 and 8 which are due in the third nine weeks of the year. The ELA Component will consist of journals that will check our progress in our project.

  • March 10, 2017: We are learning how to solder the motors and the rest of the materials to the board. We hope to work on it in the following weeks.

  • March 25, 2017: We soldered the materials but we ended up burning the board. We have ordered a new one to replace the burned one. It will come in a week or so.

  • April 3, 2017: We got the new board and are making preparations to start the soldering process again.

  • April 11, 2017: We soldered the materials to the board successfully! We are really proud to have achieved this considering we had failed earlier. Now that this part is complete, we will move on to the programming part of the project.

  • April 25, 2017: We have successfully finished programming the drone. It was not as difficult as we expected but there was a learning curve that we had to overcome. Overall, the drone is complete and now we just need to fly it.

  • May 3, 2017: Our drone has flown for the first time. We flew it a small amount of time to not risk crashing and breaking it.

  • May 10, 2017: We are putting the finishing touches on our website. It is looking really nice and we are proud of it.

  • May 20, 2017: We are officially finished with our project. Overall, we are really proud of how it went. We learned a lot throughout the entire process. We can use this knowledge in anything we do in the future.
