Cheers to Amazon's Surprise Generosity and Recognition

Wednesday April 10th, Amazon surprised students, families and staff from STEM Launch in Thornton with a $25,000 donation to support the school’s Family MakerSpace. During the event celebrating National Robotics Week, students showed off their robotics skills and had the chance to see technology come to life during an exclusive tour of Amazon’s 800,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Thornton.

"We're proud to be a member of the Thornton community, creating opportunities like today to give students from STEM Launch a behind-the-scenes look at technology in action and inspire them to explore the diverse careers in the STEM and robotics fields," said Clint Autry, General Manager, Amazon Fulfillment.

"We are incredibly grateful for the generous gift from Amazon that will increase the resources and learning opportunities through our Family MakerSpace,” said Martin McCarthy, Principal, STEM Launch K-8. “Enhancing the quality and reach of our Family MakerSpace fulfills our mission of preparing students with the tools to create the jobs of the future. This can only happen through authentic partnerships with our community and local industries such as Amazon and we are thankful for the opportunity.”

The donation will support STEM Launch’s Family Makerspace, which provides a welcoming and supportive environment for families to explore engineering and technology together. The program offers families free lab time for hands-on learning, programming and engineering projects, free/low cost resources to make projects, student-led community sessions and programming interpreted/translated into Spanish.
