The P&C are here to help the school be more effective. When requests are made to the P&C, we need to understand how it helps the school and what systems are in place to make sure it stays effective.
P&C FUNDING REQUESTS
Applications from the school community (students, teachers or the school Executive) are very welcome - we love using the P&C resources to make our school even better! Please use the request funding form and refer to the guidance notes below. We look forward to receiving your funding requests of the P&C.
Guidance Notes for Requests
Applications will be determined at a P&C Committee meeting.
Applications will be assessed on the basis of the information submitted with this form so please ensure all information to support your application is included. Applicants may also be invited to provide further information and/or address the P&C Committee meeting determining the application.
Applications may be submitted for any type of proposal. This may include, but is not limited to, applications for equipment, entry fees for programs/competitions, group activities and tutor fees.
All applications will be referred to the School Executive for its comments and support. School submissions will require School Executive support.
Generally the P&C seeks to award funding of up to $1,000 for about 10 projects, and up to $5,000 for two projects, every year. However, applications for other sums will also be considered.

Timetable – to allow time for consideration and communication with the school prior to the P&C meeting, applications should normally be submitted at least on month prior to the next P&C meeting.
Assessment criteria – all applications will be considered on their merits, important factors will include: the contribution of the project to the school community, the number or group of students impacted, the contribution of the project to the College values of quality, diversity and opportunity.
Conditions of awards – all successful applicants will be required to report back at the end of the project on the project expenditure and outcomes.

SSC Balmain P&C Small Grants Program
A small grants program was setup in 2021 to provide up to $500 (inc GST) per grant to help facilitate student-led projects within the school including extra-curricular activities for the students and staff, and for the benefit of the community. Funds can contribute to the purchase of goods and services, travel, memberships, advice, meals/ catering or any other project-related cost. Successful projects can reapply for funding for expansion and/or diversification up to three times. At the end of every project funded, a one page evaluation of the project, a visual record and all receipts are to be provided by the students involved. Project proposals are prepared by students nominating the project. Applications are submitted to the Principal for approval and then considered at the next P&C meeting (usually the fourth Tuesday of the month).
