The league is made up of archers of all ages and skill levels. Archers are categorized into skill levels of 5, 10, 15, and 20 yard lines in weekly shoots. The highest skill level is a variable distance category where archers shoot from varying distances of 5 through 25 yards in weekly shoots. New archers are evaluated to determine the distance they will start from. Typically, new archers are younger children and start at the 5 yard line.
The year is made up of one ten (10) week season, with each season containing ten weekly shoots. Archers maintaining a certain average for a season will advance to the next skill level for the following season. This is to promote fairness and to keep the size of the skill levels manageable. After the season, a tournament is held for all archers, as well as a banquet for the archers and their families.
Spirit Quest takes in money through registration fees. All of the money taken in by the registration fees go directly back into the league for facility use and prizes. Typically very little money carries over to the next year. A balance sheet is provided in the banquet program.
