SPIRIT QUEST YOUTH ARCHERY LEAGUE 2025
LEAGUE GUIDELINES
GENERAL
The Spirit Quest Archery League is a non-profit generating organization run by a board of directors, participating member’s, and parents for the enjoyment and benefit of its members. It is open for all children age 6 to 18, shooting ranges between 5 and 25 yards. Although this is a youth league, bow and arrows are weapons. Everyone who shoots in the league must have a parent or guardian in attendance. The league is responsible for scoring and trophies only! Parents are responsible for their children’s actions and equipment.
The league will run between the 1st Friday in January for 10 consecutive weeks (Subject to Change as Required). There will be a match play tournament, and an awards banquet or ceremony after the end of the season.
League shoots will be held on Friday nights between 6:00pm and 10:30pm at Gilbert’s Sportsman Club on Omo Road, south of 28 Mile Road (large green building). Gilbert’s serves food and drinks, including alcohol, please remember this is a youth league, pertaining to the consumption of alcohol. In addition, smoking will not be allowed by league members and parents due to some of our archers being asthmatic. We also have some peanut allergies this year, please be mindful.

NEW ARROW RULES – If a member shows up to a shoot with less arrows then required they are not eligible to shoot. We recommend archers always have 6 good arrows in their possession.
PRESEASON
There will be no preseason; it is your responsibility to be ready to shoot when the league begins.
LEAGUE DUES
League dues are set at $130.00 per season. Dues are to be paid at registration. Balance due by 1st week of league shooting. No Exceptions unless arranged with Marc.
YARDAGES
All league members will have their yardages set by the league coordinators. The league coordinators will use placement of league members at certain yardages to allow all league members a fair opportunity to win trophies. In special circumstances, league members may be required to have an additional handicap added to their shoot. The league coordinators reserve the right to move members as necessary.
If you disagree with the league coordinator assessment you are welcome to move your archer to a higher yardage, or down to a lower yardage, but with the following conditions. If you move an archer to a higher yardage, they will not be allowed to return to the previous yardage and trophy. If you feel your archer is not ready to move to a higher yardage, but the coordinators feel they are, you are welcome to leave them at that yardage, but they will not be allowed to trophy. This action is done to be fair to all the archers.
ALL NEW ARCHERS – League coordinators will place you at an appropriate distance and may evaluate you at several distances prior to placing you at a competitive distance.
THE SHOOTING LINE
Due to the space limitations and Safety, no one but the flight shooters will be allowed beyond the Safety Line during actual shooting. Only flight shooters and scorekeepers will be allowed down range, no exceptions.
SAFETY
While teaching our children the joy of archery and hunting, it is also extremely important that we teach safety. The infractions listed below are a direct result of previous seasons.
· All archers will pull their bow straight back, horizontal shifts will not be accepted.
· All archers will load their arrows with the tips down and forward of the safety line, several of our archers have adopted loading their arrows in rearward and rotating the arrow into place. This will not be accepted.
· All archers must be able to handle their own equipment, which includes loading their own arrows, pulling back their own bows, and releasing their own arrows.
· Only the archers of the flight and scorekeepers will be allowed down range while scoring, all other archers and parents will not be allowed down range.
· While on the shooting line you will pay attention to your equipment and the target you are aiming at, not worried about who shoot what last round, and what’s my score.
· If you are to emotionally upset to shoot remove yourself from the shooting line, or we will have to. Often this has become a distraction to the other archers, other archers who need to be focused elsewhere.
Any violations of safety will result in a warning for the first infraction, and lose of score for the second infraction.
AWARDS BANQUET
Our awards banquet or ceremony will be announced during the season.
