HPE Sharepoint Site - ALL information; operating procedures (OPs), resources, supports, Proposal Forms, memos, articles and documents will be housed here. Please be patient with me while I continue to construct the site and refer back often as I update it.
HPE Rep Contact list:
Every school should have at least 1 Representative that is responsible to be the main contact at their school for Health, Physical Education and Athletics. As the main contact, you are responsible for attending meetings (NPPHEA, SPESPHEA, ETPHEA), communicating with your HPE team and Athletics staff to relay information. Many schools have more than 1 person on the DL but ideally, there should be 1 main contact. Please reply to ME only if you'd like to add/edit/delete names on the CONTACT list or the DL.Ontario Physical Activity Safety Standards for Education (OPASSE) - Bookmark this link to refer to all the safety recommendations for your curricular, intramural and inter school activities and excursions. Peel’s standards sometimes go above OPASSE and those are noted on the HPE Sharepoint site. Note, that the List for Approved Activities for Excursions is discontinued so refer to this site if you are planning an excursion involving physical activity. This memo also provides further clarity.
HPE Board-sharing Equipment: Instructional equipment has been purchased over the years and housed all over the Board. These items can be used by ANY Peel teacher, not just PE staff, so please share this link with your staff. IF there is any item that you would like to request as a Board-sharing item, please email me.
New items sent: Giant Connect 4 (Backyard Games 2), Bean bag toss
More safety goggles (to be sent)
More pedometers (to be sent)
Elementary Event Booking Procedure:
SPESPHEA and NPPHEA have an Athletics calendar for their sanctioned events. ETPHEA is encouraged to follow the same schedule as the Intermediate grade levels in their FOS.
If you are convening an event, consult the Days of Significance before booking an event and avoid Mondays/Fridays due to staffing shortages.
Email me your date and participating schools.
Your association’s Athletics calendar should be kept up to date on your sites.
Once approved, you can book ONE per team per gender. Use CODE 482
No double dipping. Ie. you may book a supply for each team once. If the same team goes to a 2nd event, your school must pay for the supply. Any school using the supply code twice will have the cost sent back to the school.
Funds are usually depleted in early Spring. Once depleted, schools should pay for their own supply coverage.
NOTE: schools can charge an entry fee to pay for the convenor. School paid supply coverage: CODE 70
6. Outdoor Education Funds: As per previous years, there will be a Google Form application to earmark the funds. These funds are meant for experiential learning, not instructional equipment, and should benefit the entire student body, not a small group of students.
7. Family of Schools Events: NEW THIS YEAR: If you are planning an FOS event and will be requesting funding, complete this FOS Event Proposal Form (Google access only) to provide information on estimated numbers of students, funding required, date, schools involved, etc. This helps with accountability and equitable allocation of funds.
The goal is for every FOS to organize at least 1 large event. However, please note that an FOS event is supposed to be:
A large event (entire grades of students) that participate and integrate with other students from neighbouring schools. The goal is to have the largest impact possible.
Leadership and mentorship development of older students mentoring younger students. Ie: Secondary leading elementary. These interactions are key to social-emotional learning and feeling included in school spirit events.
Non-competitive in nature. Ie: there should NOT be try-outs as this is not an interschool Athletics tournament. IF you decide to organize a fun tournament, then focus on accommodating students and modifying rules so that all students can be successful.
Successful FOS events would be Heart lake's FOS "Try Days" or John Fraser's FOS "Play Days". Feel free to inquire on how those events were effectively organized.
If you already have an FOS in mind, please connect with the PE contacts in your FOS so that you're all on the same page.

Some of you were inquiring about going to the Ontario Physical Literacy Summit. I've attended several times and I always learn something new!
You can receive funding to pay for the conference and your supply coverage through STPDL Professional Development Request Form.xlsx. Funds go quickly so apply NOW! Applications can be sent to your STPDL rep found here.Coaches must complete:
Outdoor Education Funds: These funds should be downloaded directly to schools in late Fall with an online application Form.
First Aid Certification: Each school should have at least 2 staff that are certified with Standard First. This is completed through the Health and Safety department. However, I recommend that ALL of you are certified for your knowledge. If you teach a high-risk sport, you must have Emergency First Aid.
