MEETINGS AND OTHER INFORMATION
The monthly meeting took place at the children's center on April 08, 2023; the couple participated in this session. The agenda was as follows:
- reading the minutes of the previous meeting;
- what about the dormitories;
- Miscelaneous.
During the session, discussions were held regarding the management of our tweens and teens who are becoming more and more recalcitrant; solution approaches were suggested; we realize that teenagers do not like to be yelled at so we are called to know how to have softening conversations with them.
Mémé and Pépé made the same observation in Kpalimé and encourage us not to give up for the best of SPES. Classes at the French Institut are continuing very well. Our children have difficulty expressing themselves in French, which delays their academic progress. It was asked to understand if the courses at the institute were enough to improve the level of our children? To this question, the Project Manager gave her opinion according to which the courses at the institute allow our children to distract themselves because they meet new people and also they are forced to express themselves in French once they are there. In the end, the courses at the institute cannot fill the vase to the extent that we ourselves cannot express ourselves in French in our professional environment.
This is the case of four boys all in 6th grade who are not empowered to decipher their own writings that led us to more in-depth discussions. The project manager has adopted a methodology to accompany the supervisors, for her it would be appropriate to explain the lesson in vernacular language to allow the learner to stay in the heart of the matter. To conclude, the psychologist asked if it would not be better to recruit a professional for children; the project manager plans to discuss a discussion with the managers of the French Institut in collaboration with the management to see the feasibility.
On April 16, 2023, a meeting brought together the Board of Directors of SPES-LOME and some members of SPES International; the objective of this assembly was to rule on the state of adolescents at the end of training including the estimate of their life projects to be perceived on the education fund, a report of the couple on their stay. This meeting ended with a small sharing.
On April 23, 2023, the Installation Commission for teens at the end of training met at the center to take stock and adopt the files relating to the installation of teens at the end of training. At the end of this meeting, the coordinator of SPES-LOME also convened the young people on April 26 to discuss with them the importance of a project, the merits of this life project. SPES will not make them yes-yes so they must make efforts to achieve fulfillment through these projects. This is an opportunity for them and they must seize it.
Tomato and parsley harvests are in progress, we did not get a large amount of tomatoes and this should be due to unsuitable soil. At the children's center, pre-teens were initiated by mothers and the animator to make a small corn and okra garden that evolves very well.
Livestock farming in the centre of adolescents is also evolving in good conditions.

The aim of this awareness-raising is to enable children and staff to become familiar with children's rights and duties. All children, staff and some external teenagers participated in this sensitization, which focused on children and their homework. The delegation was composed of the Vice-President of the CNDH and her collaborators. Children are very fragile, vulnerable beings with specific needs, they start their lives in a state of total dependence, said the communication officer in her presentation.
The Commission's mission is to promote and protect human rights, protect human rights defenders, prevent torture or any other form of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment in places of deprivation of liberty. Children have rights including the right to life, to schooling, the right to listen, the right to be well treated by parents. It is necessary to denounce cases of violence against children, namely: sexual harassment, forced labour, insults. Children not only have rights, they also have duties. We can highlight a few: The duty to respect parents, the elderly, etc.
At the end of this presentation, our children answered very brilliantly the questions asked by the committee and also presented a sketch. The children who were very ambitious to work at the CNDH did not hesitate to ask questions about the school curriculum that could allow them to apply from one day to the next. The President informed them that there are different categories of positions that we find in working life. They need to get to work, do advanced studies and listen to announcements. Because if they are in these positions, it is by listening on the radio, on television, in the press. The President of SPES Togo, who is a member of the Commission, added that studies are very important and they must get to work.
Documents were handed over to the SPES-LOME centre.
The day ended with a meal sharing.

Staff annual leave began on July 1, the second wave will start in August and the last in September. This to allow us to better prepare for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
CONCLUSION
The month of July promises to be a summer vacation where the children recover from the fatigue accumulated during the school year.
We had a great time during the month of May 2021, with family celebrations, positive actions taken towards our children. Without delay we will let you enjoy the life of the center during the month.
HEALTH
We have recorded some occasional ailments namely cough, cold, malaria, itching and infections. All the children who suffered from these ailments were consulted, treated and have recovered.

Academically, children usually go to school and do their best; internal revision continues. As for the apprentices, they are doing quite well, everything is going well for each of them.
KLOUTSE Afi, a teenage girl from Kpalimé, began her apprenticeship in baking and pastry here in Lomé. WOELAB classes continue every Saturday as well as those of the French Institute.
We have received the results for the second term for middle school and primary school students. Overall we can say that the children put in more effort than the first term although these results are not entirely encouraging.

In fourth, 7 of 10 passed;
In fifth, 6 of 10 passed;
In sixth, all 7 passed;

In kindergarten 2, all 4 passed.
MEETINGS AND OTHER INFORMATION
The monthly meeting took place on May 07, 2021; At this meeting, staff report that some children's educational attainment is improving, they are now making an effort. As for behavior, mamans and tontons deplore the unhealthy attitudes of older girls in the dormitories. The case of adolescents is also very worrying, they are very recalcitrant. We believe that everything will be fine with the decisions made and with the advice given to them during the companion training in intra-family communication.
On 05/06/21, the Director, Papa Martin and maman Léra took KLOUTSE Afi to her place of learning in Lomé, more precisely in ATIKOUME. She will be lodged with the owner during her training but will return to the center from time to time.
On 05/13/21 an NGO called EODEC specializing in dental consultation made the trip to the center in order to provide care to children and staff who have dental problems. Everything went well with scaling treatments and extraction of damaged teeth were carried out. For information, the new mothers selected last year were given their annual leave for two weeks. They will receive the second fortnight in the coming days.

The monthly meeting took place on 04/10/2021 at the children's center. At this meeting, the staff spoke more about the difficulties our children are having in school.
On 04/14/2021, students and supervisors from the BILL-PS school, volunteered to look after the children in several areas, namely:
BATIK making tinted loincloths;
Decoration;
Manufacture of shoes, and accessories in loincloths.
All were motivated and made achievements that will serve us well in the days to come.
On 04/06/2021, a delegation provided moral support with their presence at the official opening ceremony of Frédo’s tailor studio. He was very proud and in return thanked the staff for coming to the center.
On 04/08/2021, the teenager at the conclusion of her cooking training was invited to the center to discuss her placement in her career.
Support training for children, young people and adolescents took place at the center on April 13, 15 and 16, 2021; this training was greatly appreciated by the children who promise to put the advice given to them into practice. It was initiated by the project manager. Despite the richness of this training, the man being what he is, sadly, our teenagers a few days after this training are only taking actions that go against the advice given to them.
On 04/14/2021, the teenager who decided to do undertake hairstylist training, signed her contract; she was accompanied by her Maman and the director.
One Maman and the Director accompanied the teenager to the large market in Lomé to buy her cooking training utensils; she was very happy to discover this place as well as the various points of sale.
We would like to congratulate the mothers for the work done (cleanliness in the dormitories) they give themselves for the smooth running of the activities.
We congratulate our teenager in terminal D who achieved a grade of 16.05 and was ranked 2nd in her class. With this grade, she will be able to enroll in medicine as she wishes.
Another teenager at the completion of cooking training was also interviewed by management on 12/04/2021 in order to ascertain her employment preference.
March 2021 has already heralded the great rainy season in Lomé, with rains falling on both sides of the neighborhoods, accompanied by a wave of coolness throughout the city. Things are progressing normally at the center and we bring you this news.
HEALTH
During the month of March, we have recorded a few cases of stomach aches, aches in the eyes, ears, anemia, coughs, sweat rash (prickly heat), sores and a few cases of malaria in some children. All have recovered and are doing well.
STUDIES AND PROFESIONAL STUDIES
School activities continue at all levels.
Primary school students have just completed compositions for the second quarter of the year 2020-2021, starting on 03/22/21. Likewise, the college students completed the second trimester homework which began on 03/08/21. They also received their first quarter reports, the overall results of which, are as follows:
In sixth, all 7 children passed: 100%
In fifth, 4 of the 10 children passed: 40%
In fourth, 6 of the 10 children passed: 60%
In third, just 5 of the 14 children passed: 35.71%
Individual results are included in the summary table of results.
Computer classes with WOELAB [“Let’s Go-Lab” a Togolese initiative to give children access to and instruction in the application and use of computers] continue with the children, as do language support classes at the French Institute in Lomé.
The apprentices go about their daily activities and everything is fine.
MEETING AND OTHER INFORMATION
The monthly meeting was held on 03/12/21 at the children's center. During this meeting, the staff spoke about the behaviors of some children who refuse to do their domestic chores and the irregularity and lack of discipline of some children in schools. Faced with this, the director urged the staff to create a climate of understanding between them and the children, to do everything to ensure that the children have confidence in themselves to better assist.
As part of the TOGOAL'KIDS project (a cultural exchange project between the children of SPES Lomé and the children of a class in Lille-France), we received on March 15, 2021 a batch of letters sent from the students of a Lille class. With the help of the center's facilitator, Justin, our children responded to these letters which were stamped today, 3/31/21.
Additionally, we received funding from the project’s promoters to ensure it’s smooth running, which enabled us to purchase the computer equipment (HP computer, an EPSON video projector and inverter). This, along with the first three computers, means very soon the children will be able to make live exchanges by videoconference with the students of Lille.
From March 17 to 19, the mothers of the two centers in Lomé benefited from training on supporting family communication, within our SPES Lomé house. The Mamans found this training very beneficial and are thinking of putting it into practice at the center for better communication between themselves and the children. We hope that the implementation of this resolution becomes a reality.
As part of the International Women's Day celebrated on March 8, a conference debate on the theme: "How to succeed in your professional activity as a Woman" brought together all the women of SPES LOME on 03/24/21. It was beautiful, all the women of SPES were in colorful dress.
We wish everyone a good start in the new month of April and then HAPPY EASTER in anticipation.
During the month of February 2021, we were surprised by a dry harmattan wind but despite this season, the activities during this month were carried out under in good conditions. We let you read and enjoy the News.

MEETING AND OTHER INFORMATION
The monthly meeting was held on 02/13/2021 at the children's center. During the meeting, the mothers and the uncles complained about the behavior of some of the children hanging around before and arriving late, during study sesisons in the evenings. We have unanimously decided to advise them to stop these behaviors.
The director called on the staff to be mindful to lead the children to good academic and professional results at the end of the year 2020-2021.
During the meeting, we were officially informed of the traffic accident of a child minder who was returning from her workplace. To date, she is doing better after receiving treatment.

In addition, three HP brand computers were purchased to strengthen the computer lab to facilitate the computer training for the children.
CONCLUSION
We have finished the month of February well and hope that the month of March which has just started will have some good surprises in store for us.
January, the first month of 2021, was an opening to new horizons. The activities during the month revolve around the points below.
HEALTH
Some of our children have been in pain. Taken to hospital, they were seen and treated and are all doing well now. However, we would like to point out that two cases were very worrying, but everything is back to normal. They have all returned to learning and school.
STUDIES AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
Classes resumed after the holidays. For this school year still affected by COVID-19, lessons are carried out by under special conditions to cope with the larger class sizes. It is a general disruption in the education system. The lineups are regional as usual but biannual at all levels this year. So we have to adapt to the situation as it arises. Our children are on the job.
The compositions for the first semester began on 01/25/21 for primary and secondary schools. Some of the primary students already have their results, like those of the E.P.P. KELEGOUGAN. We await the other results during the month of February while wishing a lot of courage to the high school students who will soon begin their first semester compositions.
Besides, everyone who is due to enroll in university this year has done so.
The apprentices continue their respective apprenticeships. Two of them are preparing for their final apprenticeship exam this year 2021.
MEETING AND OTHER INFORMATION
The monthly meeting took place on January 16, 2021; it brought together the President of the Board of Directors and the other members of the Board who were all invited for the occasion, and the staff of SPES Lomé.
The usual tour of the sections was made; staff unanimously agreed that the children's behavior is improving.
On various matters, the staff representative, presented the best wishes to the members of the TOGO and SPES-int, on behalf of his colleagues. In response to these wishes, the president of C.A. TOGO, through the voice of her representative, congratulated and encouraged the staff for the work done while urging them to properly organize the children during mealtimess. The SPES International representative sent the best wishes and congratulations to the staff and to the TOGO C.A. for the work done.
Together we will get the SPES boat to a safe haven.
CONCLUSION
We have come to the end of this month without major incident and hope that the other months of this new year will end very well in all areas as well.
INTRODUCTION
The life of the center during the month was not lacking in events. Here are the activities of the center
HEALTH
All the children sick were treated and have recovered.
STUDIES AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
After a few weeks of classes, the students had a week off to celebrate Christmas and New Year 2021. Classes resumed on January 4 across the country. Study sessions with the staff continue to enable the children to assimilate the lessons and tutorials.
A teenager girl is attending evening classes at ESA, following the school's program, with a view to obtaining her BTS and her license. Two boys are also preparing for their BTS this year.
Among the adolescents who came from Kpalimé to take entrance exams to schools at the University of Lomé, the only successful applicant was selected in the field of pharmacy with arrangements for this underway.
One is enrolled at ESTH STELLA MATUTINA to prepare her BTS in Hospitality in two years’ time. Only one boy has not yet unaged as he is still hesitant about the sector.
Apprentices make efforts in their field. The majority of these apprentices are in their final year of apprenticeship and will likely take their CFA exam. We will pay the last installments of the contract and the costs of the exams. This is also the moment to start thinking about the conditions of their placement by mutual agreement with SPES INTERNATIONAL in order to allay all the concerns each have.
MEETINGS AND INFORMATIONS
The monthly meeting at the center was held on December 12, 2020. At this session, moms and uncles said they appreciated the children's behavior which is improving day by day. Current difficulties were mentioned about the adolescent center with instances of insolence, arrogance and rudeness of some of the children at home and at school. Warnings and temporary exclusions were applied at school to some in order to induce them to change their behavior. Despite the regular follow-up from the psychologist, some of our teenagers find that they are of legal age and do not have anything to learn from anyone, which is evident from their behavior and conduct. We deplore this state of affairs because the education of preadolescents and children suffers, thus making the work of local coaches more difficult. Together we can save SPES TOGO.
In addition, during the meeting, the director made a general assessment with the staff on the life of the center. It was a question of each one telling the problems observed during the past months at the level of each section. All responded unanimously that no difficulty was observed. The director called on the staff to be aware of and scrupulously respect their responsibilities for a more peaceful and friendly New Year, in the smooth running of the center and for the development of the children for whom we are responsible.
The facilitator said that the classes at the French Institute are continuing. Finally, the SPES-LOME children's Christmas party was celebrated on December 20, 2020 at the center for the little ones. Many members of the SPES Board of Directors honored with their presence at this party. The children as usual, received gifts from the hands of the board members. They also received a visit from Father Christmas in the person of CA TOGO who donated a sum of fifty thousand (50,000 FCFA) to him, to encourage him to do a good job.
The party was beautiful. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the godfathers and godmothers around the world, the members of the National and International Board of Directors represented by Phillipe ETIENNE who does not need to be asked to honor with his presence at all the events of SPES LOME and KPALIME. We especially thank the Icelandic godparents who never tire of making our children happy at the Christmas holidays.
CONCLUSION
The month of December has bowed out giving way to January 2021. Our best wishes to the godfathers and godmothers around the world to the members of the board of directors of SPES-TOGO and SPES-INTERNATIONAL.
May the New Year bring us health, happiness, longevity to be in the good care of our children.
INTRODUCTION
November started off with a bang, with the new school year beginning on 02/11/20 with the children returning to school.

We welcomed five girls from the Kpalimé center who came to Lomé to take entrance tests in schools or to complete registration formalities at the University of Lomé. This program was unsuccessful until their return to Kpalimé on Wednesday 25/11/20 under the supervision of the Director of SPES Kpalimé.
Apprentices go to their workplace on a daily basis. Many of them are in their third year of their apprenticeships and are preparing to take their final exams in 2021, all going well.
MEETINGS AND OTHER TRAINING
On November 04, 2020, the Board of Directors met at the adolescent center in order to decide on the situation of students at the end of their cycle, as well as the arrangements to be made for the placement of new baccalaureate holders and their follow-up in their studies since the space available is fundamentally lacking at the Adolescents center.
The monthly staff meeting was held on 11/12/20 at the children's center. The staff commended the children's behavior which is improving day by day. The director urged the staff to go all out to take care of the children, especially in terms of study, personal hygiene and clothing. It should also be noted that during this month, the psychologist reviewed individual students and new graduates. On Saturday 28/11/20, all students and postulants were invited to a workshop with the Psychologist, the Adolescents Manager and the Director of the Lomé center, to help them to understand and accept that they are approaching the end of their time at the center and that partial responsibility for oneself is important as a transition for an easy integration into life. During this session the text on progressive integration into life was read and commented on.
CONCLUSION
We ended the month of November beautifully and started the month of December with serenity.
HEALTH
We report a few cases of malaria, infections of all kinds, coughs, eye pains, injuries in some children this month.

We are delighted with the success of our two candidates presented to the BACII. A teenager also passed his end of apprenticeship exam in cooking.
Language support classes have resumed with the children since October 05, 2020 at the French Institute in Lomé. They go there every Monday and Wednesday afternoon in two groups of nine and seven for sessions of one hour and thirty minutes per group.
To make these holidays useful, about thirty of our young boys and girls participated for two weeks at the children's center in a training course on making bags for the market and for shopping in town; trash baskets and their lids. Three days before the end of the training, our young participants were evaluated and were able to make a dozen trash baskets and several varieties of bags for shopping in town.
In order to prepare for the next school year, one of our child tailors has been at the center for more than two weeks to sew school outfits for his brothers.
MEETINGS AND OTHER INFORMATION
On October 1, 2020, the board of directors of SPES TOGO held an extraordinary meeting convened by the installation committee for adolescents at the end of their apprenticeship at the Adolescents center. The important item on the agenda is the installation of the teenagers who successes. After reading the various quotes for the purchases to be made and the updates concerning the topic of the day, the Assembly decided to meet within a short time to discuss the case of the teenage students of our centers.
On October 17, 2020, we held our usual monthly meeting at the children's center. After a two-month hiatus due to annual staff leave, we returned to our subjects such as: the minutes of the previous meeting, the tour of the dormitories and the different sections of the two centers, then the various ones.
DONATIONS
On the first day of the month, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Private Sector Development and Promotion of Local Consumption, provided the center with various dishes consumed in Togo as part of the first edition of (MONTH LOCAL CONSUMPTION).
On October 3, 2020, the nephews, nieces and sisters of Pépé Claude GBEDEY visited the center of Lomé under the leadership of Maman Santé then they donated a Laser Jet Pro MFP M227 fdw-hp photocopier printer device, three boxes of reaming paper, three Jet laser cartridges and a Canon camera to perpetuate the actions carried out by their uncle at SPES and leave a memory of him for the children of SPES.
With all our hearts, we say a well-deserved thank you to these generous donors. We also say a sincere thank you to everyone who came through our doorstep to bring us a glass of water to drink.
The month of September started well in good conditions with the successes of the children in the various compositions and exams. Joy was in all hearts. We were impatiently awaiting the results of the BEPC when all of a sudden the atmosphere darkened with the sudden and unexpected disappearance of our great grandfather GBEDEY Claude Cena Goudjo. No matter how much suffering, how painful, life goes on for the survivors. Such is life!
The life of the center during the month of September.
HEALTH
In the area of health, we have recorded some rare cases of malaria that have been treated and those who have suffered are cured. Health checks were carried out for the anemia cases in August. Those who had relapses were identified.
STUDIES AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
September has been exams month and we warmly congratulate our successful students. As we wrote in last month's news, for the EDPS laureates, out of 08 registered we admitted 7; the 6 students enrolled in the first class, all passed.
Supervision and practice have ceased for the moment because all are practically on vacation.
We are currently awaiting the results of the BACII and the BTS. One student is currently training in IT and maintenance, to strengthen his capacity in this area. Lessons for students from the Center for Adolescents at the Driving School continue. It should also be noted that another student has gained his license this year.

Staff annual leave ends at the end of this September and the monthly meetings will resume during the month of October.
However, the Board of Directors of SPES TOGO held an extraordinary meeting on 09/15/20 at the children's center to discuss the practical arrangements for the organization of the funeral of Pépé GBEDEY Claude. On Saturday 19/09/20, SPES TOGO paid tribute to grandpa GBEDEY Claude at his home. This pre-vigil was attended by a makeshift choir quickly set up at the children's center for the occasion. A delegation from SPES Kpalimé composed of ten members including children was in Lomé for this event.

Overall morale is a bit low, but life goes on. The children are doing well.
DONATIONS
Our sincere thanks go to those who share good will and who spare no effort to make the daily life of our children more pleasant.
CONCLUSION
September has taken its hat off, by giving way to October, which will surely give us more joy than sorrow.
INTRODUCTION
In previous years, during the month of August, most of our children have returned to their families for the holidays. But this year being unique in itself, we now await the BEPC and BAC2 exams; then also, living in fear of being infected with the virus, we saw fit to keep all the children at the center for the good of all concerned.
We will describe to you the events of the center during the month of August, in three points.
HEALTH MATTERS
Compared to the last two months, we had a small improvement in relation to the cases of children's illnesses. However, we have had to record a few cases of malaria, mild headaches, eye problems, anemia, mumps and the appearance of bourbouou or heat rash in some children.
Those who suffered from malaria and anemia received treatment at the Miséricorde medical center in Kégué near the children's center. The others were consulted by the pediatrician at the center who prescribed medicines for their treatment. Finally, in terms of health, all these children have received adequate care and are in great shape.
SCHOOL MATTERS AND VOCATIONAL STUDIES
This month of August was much more marked by the end of the school year results for the intermediate classes, the EDPS exams which took place in the period from 04 to 06 August 2020, for the BAC1 students. The first one took place from August 18 to 21, 2020. We are awaiting the results of BAC1.
The EDPS results were announced on August 26. Out of eight candidates presented, seven are admitted; which gives a percentage of 87.5. The names of the EDPS laureates are found in the results table below.
Before continuing with the results of the intermediate classes, we would like to inform you that the BEPC and BAC2 2020 exams will take place successively from September 1 to 04 for the BEPC and from September 18 to 23, 2020 for the BAC2.
In High School
Classes at school, coaching and rehearsals at home continue very well for the students in the third and final grades.
It should also be noted that the courses continue very well with our university students.
Apprentices also go to their workshops as they should, and in this season two of them continue their training course in cooking.
In addition, in order to make the holiday period useful for children, various training projects have been developed by the project management team. This is how the children's center hosted the library training from 22/07 to 24/07/20, in which a delegation from Kpalimé participated. WOELAB's training with some children just ended last week. The management of the center thought of giving accelerated training in driving school to our students. It will cover two months (August-September). We have already paid the first installment which amounts to seventy-five thousand francs from the management of donations. This training will be of great benefit to them at the end of their studies, especially when entering working life.
One teenager is preparing for her defense in the bachelor's year in Civil Engineering, our big sister is preparing for her BTS exam scheduled from September 28 to October 02, 2020 and the third intends to follow for the holidays, a training in computer maintenance science.
NB: We are pleased to inform you that one has just obtained his license in Private Law. He presented us with his license certificate just as we closed the news from the center.
MEETINGS AND OTHER INFORMATION
During this month, the first group of staff from the center went on leave (from August 1 to 30, 2020, i.e. 30-day leave).
As staff have started their holidays, monthly meetings are suspended for now. Overall, everything is fine. We are delighted with the successes and we hope to end the year on a high note, like this.
OTHER ACTIVITIES AT THE CENTRE
To make these holidays more enjoyable for children, fun activities (television, football, Ludo, scrabble, reading at the library, molky, etc.) are organized. We note a strong motivation especially for the chess games initiated.
The activities with WOELAB as we reported above went well and ended on August 20, 2020.
They formed a group of nine children who are mostly in the fifth and fourth grade. These children were very motivated and followed with joy the "SKETCH-UP" one of WOELAB's programs which allows children to reproduce drawings in 3D or to express themselves by reproducing in the form of a 3D drawing whatever they imagine.
CONCLUSION
Our children of the third are finishing the BEPC.
INTRODUCTION
Here we are in the seventh month of 2020, a year that is passing so quickly with so many difficulties and benefits in some areas.
The life of the two centers of Lomé will be presented to you in the following paragraphs.
HEALTH MATTERS
The rainy season draws to a close, giving way to an early monsoon. This climate change did not stop the extensive malaria that began last month in our homes. So we have recorded a lot of cases of malaria, anemia and some cases of other diseases. The children who suffered from malaria and anemia have mostly recuperated following treatment.
SCHOOL MATTERS AND VOCATIONAL STUDIES
Classes resumed last month for those students in the graded classes; the others are on vacation except the university students who also resumed studies on 20 July 20. The internal and external tutorials have resumed their course and this in another form. A few teachers have been selected to accompany our children in revision until the exams. The coronavirus pandemic has challenged the students in many ways, so we have a duty to support them to achieve the best results at the end of this unique school year.
The apprentices also continue their training at the center as required, but while respecting barrier measures.
MEETINGS AND OTHER INFORMATION
The monthly meeting was held on 07/11/20. During the meeting, the mamans praised some children who made efforts in improving their behavior. At the adolescent center too, everything is going well.
The chair stressed that it should also be remembered that activities with the French Institute will resume soon.
To keep vacationers busy, entertainment activities such as television and games have been reinstated under the supervision of the host. Barrier measures have always been respected.
We have had the joy of welcoming two new boys to the center these last few moments.
Staff annual leave will begin for the first wave on August 1, 2020.
DONATIONS
The generous donors have never ceased to amaze us with the many donations to the children. We say a sincere thank you to them.
CONCLUSION
The month of July in all its beauty has come to an end, we would like to thank our
generous donors and wish everyone a successful August 2020.
The Director,
INTRODUCTION
The month of June 2020 opened its doors with new emergences in the house. Although this pandemic has not yet found its effective end, activities are proceeding quickly and this with the assistance of all the staff and children for whom we are there.
HEALTH MATTERS
In general, COVID 19 calls on all of us to comply with hygiene rules and for that we make an effort to follow them with the material offered by generous donors.
In addition, during the rainy period, where mosquitoes keep claiming victims of malaria, our children have been affected by this disease despite the means of prevention that are available to us. Thus the children whose names follow were sick, treated and cured:
To conclude, we can say that time challenges us to reconnect with the use of mosquito nets.
SCHOOL MATTERS
The school year, as we already know, was disrupted for health reasons to prevent COVID 19. Our children have always followed the supervision at the center with the staff.
With the opening of borders and schools in the West and in some African countries, our country has also made so much effort that can help us meet the educational challenge.
Thus, schools are only open for exam classes (CM2, Third, First and Final) from June 15, 2020.
We have made arrangements to strengthen our children in the exam class so that they can better prepare for the various exams.
Apprentices also resumed on the same date. In relation to the barrier measures, scarves, disinfectants were distributed to the children to enable them to respect health rules well and avoid the spread of COVID19 disease.
MEETINGS
The monthly meeting took place on 06/13/20. It revolved around the usual agenda.
After the report of the previous meeting it was the turn of the sections which tell us in general terms about the health, the studies, the behaviors of the children and the shortcomings encountered by certain mothers during the execution of their tasks.
From everything that came out of this meeting, there were huge changes in the behavior of the children. There are only small difficulties that moms manage to manage unanimously.
To better instill in children the best ways to live in society and to manage themselves well in the refectory, the purchase of cutlery was discussed and adopted.
Madame SOSSOU challenges the staff to become aware of the smooth running of the center. You can only do this by working together. She has gotten into the habit of repeating to us this adage: "A single tree can never make a forest". So let everyone contribute to the construction of the building.
As part of the service, she carried out an internal transfer at the level of the different sections. The three Mamans who completed their internship shortly before confinement time and the three Mamans in the Laundry section were posted; either in the dormitories, or in the kitchen, or at the Adolescents' center. Laundry will no longer be part of the sections. During this confinement we had the experience with the children who do their laundry themselves under the supervision of the Mamans, and it was fruitful. We still remember that toddlers will have their laundry done by the Mamans in the dorms.
On 06/17/20 CA TOGO held an extraordinary meeting at the children's center during which the director of the center presented a report on the organization of the center during the period of confinement due to the COVID19 pandemic. The Manager for Adolescents also presented his report on the functioning of his center during the same period. Then, the President of the Board presented to the audience the specifications of the Project Manager and that of the Administrative Secretary. Other information furnished this meeting; among other things, the reminder of the installation of adolescents at the end of learning.
DIFFERENT VISITS RECEIVED AND ACTIVITIES
We received on 05/30/20 the Association GEP (Group of Evangelization and Prayer), which gave itself the good will to bring their support to the children.
06/06/20 the Group Let us unite of the school complex Cours Lumière directed by Philippe ETIENNE, made a trip to the center. These young girls were in our walls with clothes, shoes and toys that they shared with the children. All happy with their brothers and sisters, they promised to return the following week. They were there as planned on 06/19/20 with lots of gifts like the first time. These older girls challenged their siblings to become aware of their studies for a better future and encouraged the apprentices to hold on to their learning. It was a feast where the sharing of cookies, juice was made in the fraternity. We also don't forget that lots of girls' clothes were offered.
On 20/06/20 the VISEE Association which had announced its arrival since March 14, 2020 has done its best to be with us this day. Their objective was to remind children of their rights and duties and the respect of barrier measures. They did not fail to bring us food and masks. We sincerely thank them.
CONCLUSION
We ended the month of June in peace, despite the small health problems that we had to manage. We wish everyone a good start to July.
INTRODUCTION
The months of 2020 follow each other but are not alike. The COVID19 pandemic with its constraints (confinement, hand washing, etc.) have awoken many generous souls. The month of May was rich in donations and our guests were very often amazed by the particular brilliance of our site. You will read in the next lines the life of the two centers of Lomé.
SCHOOL MATTERS
We don't have much to report as the schools are still closed and the children are confined. We hope that school activities will resume soon. The recovery scheduled for May 11th could not hold. We are suspended from the decision of the relevant education authorities of TOGO.
However, internal study are still required. But weariness is gaining ground with our children who are tired of confinement. The grown-ups at the teen center say it’s painful to go around the four walls all day long. They want to stretch their legs.
MEETINGS
05/04/20, we held an extraordinary meeting to thank the staff for the sacrifice made during this time of confinement, to encourage them not to give up, to stand firm for the smooth running of the center. This meeting also made it possible to transfer service from one group to another.
On 05/09/20, our monthly meeting at the children's center took place. In order for it to hold, we had to make a small change from the confinement of the staff.
At this meeting, the mothers said overall everything is managed.
DIFFERENT VISITS RECEIVED AND ACTIVITIES
The Association for Education, Culture and Solidarity is not tired of bringing food to the children every night. We will not stop saying thank you. We will surely miss him because we got a taste for it.
As announced above, the month of May was very rich in contact.
We received a donation of a computer to equip the secretariat. We say a sincere thank you for this gift which has given us such joy.
We have also received:
ALL YOUTHS 1 May 2020 with gifts for the centre.
THE ASSOCIATION TERREAU FERTILE 6 May 2020 also bringing gifts to the centre.
THE ASSOCIATION FEMMES SOLIDAIRES who got to know the site on 06 May 20, with a view to a partnership between the two associations. Its objective is to collect donations to send them to the children of the center.
LOME-COLOMBE LIONS CLUB has meticulously prepared for their arrival at the SPES-LOME center on May 09, 2020, with the agreement of the manager of the adolescent center. His arrival at the center was a pump this morning. They were representative and very proud of having made a good choice of the site. It was with the presence of several members of the Board of SPES TOGO.
One child was the chairman of the day with his brothers and sisters to play DJEMBE and to dance. The president of the LOME COLOMBE group and her collaborators provided advice to our children.
Indeed, this day of Saturday 5/9/20 was blessed. In the afternoon, we received a visit from the KING MENSAH FOUNDATION in collaboration with the Brasserie du Bénin. KING MENSAH (a popular Togolese singer See Link) even honored this symbolic donation ceremony with his presence. The children spontaneously sang his songs to their hearts and danced for him. He was very happy and proud of the children. His goal was to bring us food.
On May 16, 2020, we received the Friends of SOLIM Association. The latter provided advice to the children through their own experiences and promised to return the next time with more donations. Their visit was also fruitful in kind donations.
05/18/20, we spent a pleasant evening in the center of the children and that of the teenagers, while tasting copiously the pancakes and the bissap juices in very sufficient quantity. It was good !!!
We cannot close this page without mentioning that we made a sharing to mark the feast of May 1, 20.
CONCLUSION
All are happy with this month, we would still like the confinement to end, so that we are free in our movements and in our reflections. The resumption of classes is really up to us in order to alleviate the difficulties of our children in terms of study, we hope then that the sanitary measures are lifted by the end of this pandemic.

INTRODUCTION
The month of April started once again, with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing us to confine the children and staff.
The staff were divided into two teams, alternating teams every week, for two weeks on the advice of the center's pediatrician.
This report will share with you the essential aspects of the life of the center during the month.
HEALTH MATTERS
We are continuing to comply with the isolation measures and we have not seen any signs of coronavirus. This is our desire and we wish to continue as such.
Apart from COVID-19, there are some illnesses from which some children have suffered.
We are pleased to say the health problems of children this month are drawing to a close. We would like to inform you that a mamma has given us ten sachets of an ARTEMISIA anti-malarial herbal tea that can fortify children in this rainy weather, which is already coming with its infestation of mosquitoes.
We say to her a very sincere thank you for this charitable act towards the center of Lomé.
SCHOOL MATTERS
Espite the closure of schools throughout the country, we have not given up on the studies of children at the center. We have taken care to tell them that the school year will not be closed; therefore, they have an interest in taking seriously the revision of the lessons so that at the resumption of classes, scheduled for May 11, 2020 by the State, they are not surprised by the homework which will be sent to save the school year.
The staff of the center supported by the management always takes care of the revision of the lessons, the exercises with the children.
It should be noted that there is a daily program established at the center and which is respected by the supervisory staff.
However, there is no shortage of difficulties. Some children ignore their studies and refuse to answer when the time comes. Others are there, but do not give the seriousness that it takes to work and then send disparaging remarks to the mamas mothers who supervise them, which is a shame.
Whenever the management is advised of a problem we bring the concerned party in to give them advice and call them to order. Children always tend to lean toward evil, the one who stands up to mamas and papas is the focus. We sincerely hope that the pandemic will pass, that the isolation will be relaxed and that classes will resume so that our children can pull themselves together a little more.
Outside of school hours, there are times of entertainment, that is to say a daily timetable that we follow, as we have specified above for the development of our children.
You will see in the table below the daily schedule of the center since March 23, 2020, the date of the start of isolation.
MEETINGS
Given the isolation measures in place due to the COVID19 pandemic and the distribution of the staff in two working groups, we were unable to hold our usual monthly meeting on its usual date, but on 27 April 2020.
We took the opportunity to leave Group 1's work and Group 2 to hold this monthly meeting, which was very informative.
As a prelude to the agenda of the meeting, the Director of the center thanked the staff for the sacrifice made during this time of confinement and urged that more attention be paid to the children, to the love of some for others, so that this can be read in the behavior of our children who are our observers and our judges.
To be silent about the bitterness that dates back to antiquity and that is brandished whenever the opportunity arises, to get together in work for the smooth running of the center.
This meeting revolved around the usual agenda. After the minutes of the last meeting were read by mama Christine, the tour of the sections was made.
This part of the meeting generally informs us about health, studies, children's behavior, difficulties encountered by staff, assessments of certain children, etc.
We therefore note that certain older girls do not think to improve their behavior and harden their position in their embarrassment of all the personnel without any distinction. They hold a grudge against anyone who intervenes, even management. This situation is disturbing the life of the center. The younger adolescent girls aged 12 to 15 then copy this behavior, and also the mamas become involved.
The mamas are afraid to call these grown-up girls to order, to do their housework. What future do we prepare for the residents of this center by letting such behavior continue? We have to think seriously about it.
We are educators and we have the lives of almost a hundred children in our hands. We would very much like to think about the establishment of these girls who have finished their apprenticeship and that arrangements are made to get them out of the center of such behavior.
Increasing the capacity of the adolescent center to decongest the children's center. At the same time that we deplore such behaviors, some children (girls and boys) are very much appreciated and unfortunately, they are few. Our goal is to see children from 5 to 15 years of age, around the right nucleus to be like them.
At the adolescent center, there is not much to report. Only, they are too addicted to television forgetting the study times. With the intervention of the head of the center, everything is back to normal and the big brothers, the students honor the center by taking the responsibility of monitoring them for respecting schedules and it works.
The atmosphere is very lively in this center because the small recalcitrant are managed by the big brothers. For the time being, we can say that there is mutual respect.
Their breakfast is well managed by big sister.
Apart from this monthly meeting which allowed us to talk about the behavior of our children for good as well as bad, we held small meetings in small groups on 04/01/20; 04/04/20; 04/20/20; 04/23/20 to fix some of the time issues with a view to improving the work of the center.
VARIOUS VISITS RECEIVED AND CENTRE ACTIVITIES
During the month of April, in relation to the COVID19 pandemic, visits decreased enormously in our centers. We have received the visit of some rare generous donors.
THE AMISTAD (Friendship)
It made a donation to the center on March 28, 2020 of: two handwashing devices, a pack of gloves, face masks, two cans of liquid soap (25l), disinfectants, two cartons of spaghetti, a carton of sardines, a 25l can of oil.
The Association for Education, Culture and Solidarity (Turkish led)
The Association gave dinner to our children for a month, which started on 24 April 2020. Each evening, two people bring the meal consisting of the main menu, oranges and drinks. They share the meal with the children before leaving.
This meal, from our discussions, is funded by six people in Turkey. We sincerely thank these generous donors for having thought of our children.
In addition, we would like to point out that the wearing of face-masks, taking the temperature and washing the hands are strictly observed for access to the center.
On the 15th April, 2020, the manager of the Adolescent center and the Director of the Lomé center traveled to the DOUMASSESSE district to receive donations.
These donations received by those responsible for the Lomé center were already sent to the Kpalimé center on 04/21/20.
On the 12th April 2020, our children from the two Lomé centers celebrated Easter. They were very happy and said that they ate well because the party was supported by a donation of eight egg trays by the President of the Board of SPES TOGO and a 10 kg carton of French fries by Pépé CLAUDE GBEDEY. With all their heart, they have the thanks of the two centers. Let them be fulfilled.
DONATIONS
Well before listing the donations, we would like to say a sincere thank you to all those who have always thought of our children from SPES-TOGO. That what they invest for the development of our children their evening returned to the multitude of their gratuitousness.
CONCLUSION
Despite the stress of the COVID19 pandemic, we are progressing slowly towards the fifth month of the year. An exceptional year around the world.
We ask the dew of the Almighty on our godparents/sponsors, the members of the Council Administration, then our donors, so that they are preserved from the damage of COVID19. We also wish good luck to those who are still under the stress of confinement.
INTRODUCTION
March began with the presence on the ground of the President of SPES International, his family and some members of the Board of SPES International, to finish the program started in February 2020. Thus, we note the vote on the budget of the year 2020 and a small redevelopment at the Management level of the two Lomé centers.
We will now touch on the different aspects of the center’s life during this month which is drawing to a close, leaving a huge impact all over the world.
HEALTH MATTERS
We will not be able to tackle this field without dwelling on the evil of the hour, the coronavirus pandemic which is invading all of humanity and which is causing much damage. The whole world is stressed by COVID19.
In Togo, instructions on hygiene rules are given and we are simply asked to respect them:
Wash your hands regularly with soap and water;
Wearing gloves and face-masks;
Avoid physical contact;
In relation to all of this, the President of the Board of SPES - TOGO funded the construction of a handwashing system at the Lomé children's center. Another was done for the adolescent center.
Health mom graciously offered us liquid soaps to support hand washing.
Given the size of our centers, solutions must be found to avoid rapid contamination with the virus. Our children are therefore confined to the two centers. No one should step outside because schools and learning centers are closed across the country.
We have limited staff entry and exit by keeping the same team for a week or two, depending on the evolution of the pandemic. We have released the laundry since Monday 23/03/20 to reduce the number of staff.
The older girls do the laundry with the moms who volunteered to help them. Breakfast is served at home.
The study day is well organized under the supervision of the Deputy Director.
This arrangement, made since Sunday 22/03/2020, has worked well so far thanks to the will of the current team. It is a matter of will and life.
And we have to make a sacrifice together because we know these mothers have left their own families behind. We encourage them and are at heart with their families.
SCHOOL MATTERS
The second quarter of the 2019-2020 school year is coming to an end.
During the primary course the compositions started on Thursday 19/03/2020 and had to finish on 23/03/2020 unfortunately the schools were closed on the last day; we are awaiting the follow-up after the coronavirus pandemic. In college, the compositions of the 2nd trimester are finished.
For the time being, we have interrupted practice with the external tutors, whom we all know. However, supervision continues with staff confined to the center. We follow official information and adapt to national guidelines according to the evolution of the pandemic at home in Togo.
After this period, it will automatically be the third trimester which is very short with the national exams. This is why we insist with our children to respect the instructions that we give them regarding their studies.
There is no point in confusing these school closing times with the end-of-school holidays. We insist every day and ask the moms on site to take care of the supervision so that the class hours are used for the exercises and the learning of the lessons which are in the course books. We believe that if everyone does it effectively, no one will be surprised at the last moment.
MEETINGS
The center has hosted several meetings, including that of the Board of Directors on March 1, which was anticipated in the news for February 2020.
March 05, 2020
A working session at the adolescent center brought together some members of C.A. Togo and SPES International, among whom we can cite:
During this working session, the budget for 2020 was voted on and adopted.
The strict recommendations for respecting the budget were made to the heads of the SPES centers in Lomé and Kpalimé at the end of this working session; and improving the quality of work produced by staff, especially child care workers.
It is a sigh of relief for the staff and it is the place to say a sincere thank you to the International President, his collaborators and all the members of the Board of TOGO.
10 March 2020
An extraordinary meeting of the C.A. TOGO took place at the adolescent center to point out some dysfunctions observed at the children's center and to warn staff severely about the harmful consequences that could result.
14 March 2020
The monthly staff meeting was held at the children's center. The President of C.A. Lomé was present at this meeting. She informed the staff about the changes in the management of SPES LOME and in terms of home security.
DIFFERENT VISITS RECEIVED AND ACTIVITIES
On March 06, we received the association Bureau VERITAS TOGO, as part of World Women's Day celebrated on March 08 of each year. Composed of several women executives, their goal is to come and speak in advance of the party to our child girls to urge them to hold out in their studies and their learning in order to later occupy a place like them in society.
The visit of the Association 228 Innovations which was to come and talk to us about "How to care for and protect your ears" on March 07, 2020 as part of World Hearing Day, was postponed until the last minute because of the first case of coronavirus found in Togo. This group, being composed primarily of doctors, were called to service elsewhere.
In addition, it should be noted that our children being at home, eat a lot and we made provisioning consequently.
In this period of COVID19 crisis, we thought of an internal redevelopment in our two centers to limit the risks of spread.
INTRODUCTION
"A visit is always a pleasure, either on arrival or departure." We are delighted to welcome our sponsors and the managers of SPES INTERNATIONAL. It's party fever at SPES LOME center. You have to be there to experience the welcome given to our illustrious guests by our children with their SPES logo flags. It's the best month on the SPES calendar.
The following lines will share information from the center in the different areas.
HEALTH
We can celebrate the improving health of the children. Apart from the chickenpox epidemic which entered the house.
On the advice of the attending physicians, we started a general treatment for all the children in the ADOUBA dormitory and made an antiseptic gel available to mothers who care for the children. We thought about isolation of the first patient, but our infrastructure did not respond to our concerns. Apart from this epidemic, the other children have been treated and cured. Other ailments afflicted some children
SCHOOL
The results of the compositions of the 1st quarter 2019-2020 of the college students are out.
- In 6th grade, all 10 students passed;
- In 5th grade, 6 of the 8 students passed;
- In 4th grade, 4 of the 13 students passed;
- In 3rd grade, 2 of the 8 students passed;
In terms of percentage, in relation to our children and by level, we have:
- In 6th grade, 100% passed;
- In 5th grade, 75% passed;
- In 4th grade, 30.76% passed;
- In 3rd grade, 25% passed;
The results of the 4th and 3rd classes are a significant challenge. We must find solutions to remedy this which led us to convene a meeting on 02/22/2020 with all of the centre's external tutors to discuss solutions together.
The second stage will be a meeting with the tutors, all the middle school students and the management in order to make these middle school students actors in decision-making that can lead to an improvement in their academic performance. The obligation to learn lessons is already de rigueur with mamans.
The study sessions continue with both the mamans and the tontons of the house.
MEETINGS
February was a busy month with regular meetings and a few special meetings called to deal with important business. Thus on 02/03/2020, we held an extraordinary meeting at the children's center during which the three mothers who have just taken up service as trainees were presented to the staff of the center:, for a period of three months, from February 1 to April 30 2020.
We announced at this meeting, the assignment of a mom to the adolescent center to strengthen the team already in place, with a view to improving the quality of work and monitoring of children.
We also informed informed the staff of the death of the mother of a teenager.
On 05/02/20, an extraordinary meeting took place to settle some internal problems at the center, with a view to improving the quality of the work produced by everyone in their areas. During this meeting, we read the rules of procedure, in their articles on the attributions of each other, to remind the staff of their duties.
The tour of the sections revealed that the children's home suffers from chickenpox. On the academic level, a lot of effort is needed especially in the 4th and the 3rd grades. We regret the unwillingness of children and adolescents to get to work. As for their behavior, mothers find that things are better. We can only rejoice.
THE BOARD MEETING
Held on March 1, 2020 at the adolescent center between the supporters of SPES –TOGO and SPES INTERNATIONAL. We will report the decisions resulting from this meeting in next month’s news. This meeting ended in a small exchange between the participants.

INTRODUCTION
We are entering a new year with the month of January, which quickly passed before us. We will briefly tell you about the life of the center during January which was not as busy as the previous one.

During the meeting, certain adolescent behaviors being actively managed, some of the mothers discussed how, unfortunately, that the children were managing us, instead of us managing them. Human resource management is not easy; however, we have a duty to do everything to ensure a better future for our children. The meeting ended on a high note with the announcement of the arrival of our generous donor from Nigeria whom we affectionately call "Buy, Buy" (« Achète, Achète »).
Additionly, on 15/01/20 at the Adolescent center, a meeting of the decision-making committee responsible for the placement of adolescents at the end of school, or who want to pursue higher education, took place in the Lomé and Kpalimé centres.

This team promises to carry out another activity which is part of the "Vie Et Palu" (Life and Malaria) week on 02/16/20 with the children from Kpalimé.
Introduction
December was a very busy month. In the lad up to Christmas and New Year celebrations, many organized groups have expressed their joy either to share a moment together with our children at the center, by bringing them gifts or by organizing a party outside the center or in the center.
We will describe the events of the center during the month of December in several matters
SCHOOL
The first trimester of the 2019-20 school year has just ended with the compositions for primary and secondary students. The week of December 06 to 11 was devoted to compositions in the primary students and the week of December 11 to 18 for the secondary students.
At the CEG level, the results are not yet ready. The pupils of the Lycée are programmed for the semester compositions. They will probably have to compose during the month of January or February 2020.
We have just finished the Christmas holidays (from 20/12/2019 to 06/01/2020) which were very rich in activities in the children's center in Lomé. Classes resumed on 06/01/2020. We wish our children a good start to the second quarter with greater attendance to end the quarter with better results.
HEALTH
Compared to the previous month, we had a marked improvement in the children's illnesses. However, we have had cases of malaria, mild stomach aches, the appearance of heat rash on the bodies of some children.
The centre's pediatrician ordered X-rays for two teenagersi (Blondeau). The results of these tests confirmed sinusitis in one and showed rhinitis in the other.
All those who suffered from malaria had adequate care at the Miséricorde medical center which is close to the children's center. The others were cared for by the center's pediatrician who prescribed products for their treatment. Ringworm resurfaces in the children's center. We were advised to take additional treatment to avoid contamination of other children. Ultimately, in terms of health, all these children have received the necessary care and have mostly found their smiles.
VISITORS
On 06/12/2019, the center received the visit of a hundred students and supervisors from EPIC International School, an English-speaking school which was celebrating its tenth anniversary on this day. They were led by their director. On 12/20/2020, we also received a delegation from BOAD who celebrated the children with lots of gifts.
On 12/22/2019, it was the Catholic Association party in the center of Lomé in the afternoon. But already in the morning, a Catholic association from GBENYEDZI spent time sharing with the children of the center. At the same time, a delegation of fourteen children, led by mother K, was at the party in Agbodrafo with the children of the KING MENSAH foundation.
On 12/23/2019, we received the association "Let us unite" from the Bè klikamé Light School Complex which organized a party for the children and distributed toys to them.
On 12/24/2019, we received the JVHASAP-TOGO association which also celebrated with the children. At the end of the party, gifts were given to the center of Lomé.
On 12/29/2019, another delegation of children and staff from the Lomé center participated in the party organized on the same site (Agbodrafo) by TOGO ASSISTANCE, a partner foundation of the King Mensah foundation.
Apart from all these contacts and these days of celebration, some of our children have carried out significant activities. Eight of our children participated in the national chess championship led by a coach.
It should be noted that in the category of girls under the age of twelve one of our children is the champion and in the category of the boys under the age of twelve one is the vice-champion.
MEETINGS
On 07/12/2019, the center for adolescents hosted the meeting of the Board of Directors during which very important decisions were made.
On Saturday 12/14/2019, the staff meeting of the two centers in Lomé took place. The tour of the dormitories was done as usual. The discussions turned to children's health, their studies and their behavior. It should be noted that some female students stay up late at night, gathered around their apprentice sisters who have cell phones on, especially in the AKODOU dormitory that this phenomenon is more accentuated. The cell phone is a tool that at first glance allows us to reach the child wherever he is, but the use that our children make of it is of concern. We must seek solutions so that children have the minimum number of hours of sleep, necessary to resume their daily activities in better conditions.
Conclusion/final remarks
December 2019 was very eventful. The children took advantage of the Christmas holidays. This is the place to say a well-deserved thank you to the members of the Board of Directors of SPES TOGO who spare no effort for the smooth running of this orphanage. A sincere thank you to all our generous donors and especially to the godparents for their unwavering support for each of the children in the center of Lomé. Your interest in children made this month the best month of 2019.

CONCLUSION
We ended the month of November peacefully despite the small health problems we had to manage. We wish everyone a good start to December.
The Acting Director Lomé, November, 2019.
The two houses in Lomé are doing well.
HEALTH
During this month, children suffered from malaria, cough and gynecological infection. All were treated and cured with care at the nearest health center and pediatrician prescriptions. Three teenagers suffered serious eye pain and optical glasses were made to them.
SCHOOL
School supervision has started well at all levels, everything is going well for a start; we will do what is necessary to keep this pattern.
There is nothing special to report about the behavior of children. They are serene and more responsible than the past months. They respect the hours of study assigned to them.
MEETINGS
Our regular monthly meeting was held in the center of Lomé. It was led by the Director in the presence of the psychologist. The various supervisors, internal and external trainers started their activities well.
The facilitator introduced us to the new program of passage of children and adolescents in the computer room. The time of recreational activities is a little reduced. The language support courses for children started with a test to check their knowledge acquired in past classes. These courses will then continue with two groups of children and will be done on Saturday mornings.
Just after the facilitator's intervention, we listened to the news of the teenagers' house. Everyone is doing well and they have begun to be more serious about studying this year.
The cooks, the caretakers, the gardener and the driver did not report anything serious.
After the tour of the different sections, the director expressed her joy knowing that everything is going well in the center and thanked the staff for their commitment to the service of the children. She then asked the supervisory staff to review the children's study hours by letting them rest until 15:30 before starting supervision.
In her recommendations, the director urged the Mamans to accompany the children more in the various household tasks so that they learn to do this work correctly, because our children are growing up and some will soon become autonomous.
About the cases of diseases especially malaria, she asked the Mamans to look after the health of children by always keeping doors, windows and grills closed at night. Also dress the children in clothes that cover the whole body at night and during studies to prevent mosquito bites.
Finally, on behalf of all staff, the Director thanked the Assistant Director for all the service provided to SPES for 10 years and 7 months. She wishes him the best and good health and promises to ask him for advice, if needed.
The psychologist congratulated the staff for their commitment in all sectors and then urged him to continue in this direction to move the center forward.
The assistant director thanked all the staff for their collaboration throughout his time at SPES. In his speech, he told us a little about his career at SPES by giving us wise advice.
With this, the director took the floor to introduce the trainee assistant director for three months.
Finally, the director asked staff to congratulate the former assistant director with cheers for her dedication to the service of children.
OTHER
The training of Mamans taking care of homework began on October 21st, 2019. Classes are administered by the French Institute of Lomé within SPES Lomé (children's center) consisting of thirteen mothers, in two groups. Each group has eight hours of classes for 2 hours per session.
Mamans are really interested in the course since the trainer Mr. James KONDONOU understanding the local language, can explain a lot of things to them; which not only makes this course fulfilling but also brings Mamans to ask a lot of questions.
September was a normal month and the school year started well.
HEALTH
Malaria cases have not decreased this month and many children returned from holidays with gastric infections and malaria. We intend to conduct a systematic deworming for both centers, next month. After several ophthalmological consultations, glasses were prescribed for 14 children. We met the NGO Annings Optical Services based in Ghana who agreed to make us these medical glasses at a fixed price.
SCHOOL
In general, everything started well for a start of the school year, both in terms of studies and behavior. The supervision at the level of studies has already begun and the children are starting to immerse themselves already.
A small meeting was held with all the staff, the meeting was coordinated by the director to set the objectives to reach at the end of this school year. These objectives consist of:
· achieve 100% success;
· little by little to encourage the children to be more responsible through advice, small reminders as required;
· have a fulfilling life and work attendance;
· a reduction in the number of disease cases.
A new curriculum supervision program from primary to high school has been established and distributed to all supervisory staff by management with training to be provided.
A meeting was held with the children to make them aware of the good work of each and the good behavior to adopt. These meetings will often be held to encourage our young children to be more responsible.
In general, everything started well for a start of the school year, both in terms of studies and behavior.
HEALTH
The month of August unfolded without any major concern in all areas of activity. However, malaria has resurfaced again this month; almost the whole house has been affected. Thanks to the various medical care, everything is back to normal.
SCHOOL
Our children will return to school in two weeks, on September 16, 2019. To this end, the means at our disposal allowed us to have all the school supplies and equipment. This year, all our children will go to school, that is to say the the two little ones will begin kindergarten in a private school near the center. The three new patentees will follow their brothers and sisters in the modern high school of Hédzranawoé. As for our two graduates, we are making sure that they have a good start to university next October.
OTHER
The holidays continue in the center with small outings in town accompanied by picnics. Our children spent a recreational day organized by the Christmas in Heart association with children from other Lomé orphanages. Games, songs and sketches made by the children gave a beautiful color to this day. All our children aged 3 to 14 came home with their arms full of presents. They also took part in a television program broadcast by Togolese Television on children. It was more of an evening of dancing.
All apprentices normally continue their apprenticeship.
The Lomé house is doing better, the cases of illness have considerably diminished.
HEALTH
We had few cases of malaria compared to last month. We had child hospitalized with malaria accompanied by sinusitis and a heart arrythmia. The ECG results have not revealed anything worrying and she is fine so far. Apart from her, we have another young girl with sickle cell crisis. She is currently undergoing treatment by a doctor at the Regional Community Hospital Lomé.
SCHOOL
The month of July 2019 was marked by the reception of the school results of the children. These school results were unsatisfactory and we believe that we must continue our arrangements to achieve the objectives we have set ourselves. These results are attached to this news.
LIFE IN THE CENTRE
The home at Lomé is much quieter this month. All sixty-seven children (comprising thirtygirls and thirty-seven boys), went home with their families to spend the holidays. The reduced number of children and staff enabled us to better organize the activities for school next year. The youth center was also closed and the apprentices joined the children's center to continue their learning. To make this holiday more enjoyable for children who have not had the chance to return with their family, fun activities and small outings were organized. We note a strong motivation of children, especially for chess and scrabble initiated by Komlavi on Saturdays and Sundays. Some youth associations have also recently been spending time in the center and so the children could learn dances.
We learned about the disappearance of the father of two of the girls. His funeral took place in Ghana; and the father of another boy died and was buried in his native village of Vogan.
Preparations for the next school year also began with the cover of notebooks and some school books.
Our house has been jostled by many cases of diseases this month.
HEALTH
The big rainy season this year has been very threatening. We had a lot of sick people on both staff and children side. There was coughing, accompanied by high fever, body aches and headaches. The number of patients begins to decrease gradually with hospital treatment and pediatrician care.
SCHOOL
We are almost on vacation. The various exams and compositions of passage have already been made. At BAC I, we have two admitted out of three; three out of three admitted to the BEPC. It remains the results of those who made passing compositions, the EDPS and BAC II.
Academics have also completed their year-end bursaries.
MONTHLY MEETING
Our monthly meeting was held on June 8th at 8am after the traditional general maintenance around the center. The meeting was chaired by the Director, assisted by the psychologist and led by the Deputy Director.
The dormitory tour revealed many cases of malaria that have been treated and cured.
The time of framing and studies in the evenings left room for this month to talk debates, small lessons of vocabulary and conjugation.
A new program for the organization of the days was established by the facilitator with the support of the management.
The facilitator is looking forward to a new training at the French Institute in Togo for language support classes for children. He said that for this new training, the teacher is a little rigorous with our children who love to express themselves in the vernacular because the objective of this training is to take our children to get used to the French language easily. Thus, after the passage of some films, the master asks each one a small summary in French.
The director finds it our duty to accompany these children as well as the others by speaking to them French. The psychologist emphasizes by urging staff who have concerns in French to start literacy classes. And find that the language of children will be improved if moms very often make mandatory discussion sessions with children in French.
After the tour of the different sections, the Deputy Director encourages the staff to behave as a model to take our children to do better.
The director, for her part, reminds moms that it is their duty as outlined in our code of conduct to shower our children (at least those under 10); to watch over all their body hygiene, clothing ...
Since we are in the rainy season when malaria is raging, she especially asks the mothers to strictly monitor the taking of sick children's medications as prescribed by the doctor to avoid cases of relapse. She also asks them to be more vigilant and to improve their working techniques because it is here that our children will acquire all possible educations.
The psychologist, in his speech, put special emphasis on the treatment of malaria, which must be followed very closely. He congratulates the mothers for their work and asks them to continue to do better so that it works because a mother is at the same time manager, educator, nurse, in short everything. He urges them to approach him if they are confronted with the behavior of some children and help each other.
VARIOUS
In the various, the management sincerely thanked all the staff for its craze every second Saturday of the month in order to clean the entourage of the center.
She also recalled the conditions governing the receipt of the 2019 bonus and that the first part of this bonus will be paid in late July 2019 after the general evaluation.
VISITS
We had a visit this month:
- The President of R.A.P.A.A., an association that carries out actions for the prevention of addictions. She went to the center with Tom and Innocent, her friends from France in a vehicle to visit the children with comics and clothes.
- French and his colleague who came with books of French, mathematics, physics, philosophies for our high school students. We sent some of these books to SPES Kpalimé.
- The Freedom Faith net Global association (F.F.G.) based in Benin visited us with different food donations. We shared these gifts with the Kpalimé Center.
- Some parents went to visit their children in the center on the first Saturday of the month:
SUMMARY OF THE MEETING WITH THE TEEN CENTER
The Director met with the adolescents at the end of the meeting for an update on the rules that govern our centers such as respect, discipline, work, success ... She asks them to be more responsible in everything because they represent tomorrow's shift.
At the end of the meeting with the adolescents, the director held a meeting with the staff of the youth center in the presence of the deputy director.
She left the floor to everyone to highlight the shortcomings and problems they face daily vis-à-vis adolescents or their tasks.
After the round table, the director took the floor, noting that she found no problem in this center except for the lack of authority, know-how and management on the part of the staff. For authority is not only about giving orders or commanding, but rather about assuming one's responsibilities first, recognizing one's failings, and surpassing them to meet the challenge. It consists in respecting oneself and respecting one's neighbor, whatever his age; have strategies to manage each teenager following his behavior or whims in simple and humble ways.
The director goes on to stress that she understands perfectly the difficulty of their tasks but these same difficulties are reversible. As for the violent behavior of some of them, she asks them never to respond directly to their provocations. It would be best to have him come calmly or to go to this teenager to show him your dissatisfaction with his behavior, give him advice and make him point out your disappointment; in short, try to consider them, stop treating them like little ones. The director urged them and gave them many practical examples of her past experiences with teenagers on different levels (cooking, going out, living in community ...). She asked the persons in charge to make known in advance all decisions taken vis- the management of the center to all adolescents.
Finally, she asks everyone to give the best of themselves for a good management of the house; failing that, it would be obliged to punish for certain breaches.
The month of May went without any particular problem.
HEALTH
We entered a great rainy season which caused new cases of malaria. At the teenagers' house, one sprained while playing with his comrades at the center and another with a service injury; with the care, they are well to date.
SCHOOL
We are almost at the end of the year.
College students have completed part of their year-end composition. The optional subjects will be done after the BEPC exams which will start on June 4th. The BAC 1 exam took place from May 20 to May 26.
The EDPS will be held from 17 to 19 June as well as the compositions at the primary school level.
MONTHLY MEETING
Our meeting was held on May 13 at the center and led by the Deputy Director and chaired by the Director. All staff were present except for a maternal assistant who was absent for health reasons. Pépé Claude GBEDEY and Mr. Henri AMEGAN took part in this meeting.
The dormitory tour revealed cases of malaria that have been treated and cured. It was pointed out that the behavior of the big girls is poor. It is difficult for them to do their housework, they prefer to ask their little sisters to do it in their place with a certain degree of restraint and even disrespect some mothers.
In general, at the level of studies, there has been a slight increase. The results of the college students were read in front of all the staff. The great concern of the studies resides in the adolescents (of the center of teenagers) of the CEG which redouble their class. The director spoke with these adolescents with the support of the Lomé coordinator after the meeting. For their manager, this is due to the fact that they relax quickly after a few moments of awareness and falls suddenly in the same mistakes. If so, we will always continue to make them aware, the psychologist suggested.
At the level of the animator everything is going well. He said that the language support courses at the Institut Français have ended with the 2 groups of children and that the sessions in computer training continue very well at WOELAB as well as at the center.
Regarding the supervision, it continues now with the children of the primary school since the adolescents of the 2nde finished their composition of the second semester. He urged the mothers who supervise the children to come often to take tests at his level to better revise with the children.
After the tour of the different sections, the assistant director urges all the staff to make more effort during these last moments where the compositions and exams are close in order to raise the level of schooling of the children. He proposes that we continue to frame them daily in spelling, grammar and conjugation after the compositions and exams.
After the intervention of the Deputy Director, it was the Director's turn who asked all the staff to get down to work. She tells us about her interview with the schoolchildren about their school work. She gave them a lot of advice about their academic success in order to motivate them to always give their best.
With that, she asked the supervisors to reorganize their schedule in order to assist the children in need even during the weekend. As for revisions, find new strategies to get them to revise; why not repeat old exercises on all levels with children?
With regard to children's health, the Director reminded us that we are in the rainy season and that this is the time when malaria threatens a lot. However, it is necessary to keep our doors and windows closed from 17 hours to prevent the entry of mosquitoes and put insecticides every night before bedtime.
Regarding the disrespectful behavior of some children, she urges moms to report these behaviors to management early rather than wait for the monthly meeting to make them known. Because this will allow management to do direct and immediate work with those concerned.
Finally, she announced the dismissal of a mother for gross negligence and then urged the staff to behave responsibly towards work and children as specified in our code of conduct and rules of procedure that everyone of us accepted and signed without reservation.
According to the findings of the psychologist, our children do not like working on their own. They are not at all motivated by the studies and each time they have to explain to them the validity of the studies. The fact that our children do not have a solid foundation in French makes them lack interest in studies. To this end, it is up to us to make an effort to raise the level of French of our children.
The psychologist has pointed out the deplorable behavior of some of our teenagers who do not like to cooperate so that we can provide them with the help they need.
Mr. AMEGAN Henri, Coordinator of Lomé, then took the floor to congratulate all the staff for his commitment to the service of children. He emphasized the academic results which are not encouraging; and to do this, he encourages staff to give themselves more to raise the educational level of children. With regard to children's behavior, he asks staff to report problems with children immediately to management and not to wait for monthly meetings to discuss these issues. Each of us must be vigilant about some of our behavior towards children since we have received the approval of the Togolese State. Indeed, the view of SPES today is not the same as yesterday. This being the case, all that concerns the human rights, the child's rights are to be respected; we must therefore comply with the laws and texts in force.
Grandpa GBEDEY, in turn, asks the staff to do a good job and proposes that we start by imposing on our children the French language. He recalls that it is the duty of all staff to report correctly to their place of work; so check our clothes properly.
After the meeting, the director had eight (8) teenagers summoned to a committee
because of their repeated rudeness behavior for some and their refusal to assume their responsibilities for others. Despite the many actions of management and the psychologist to bring them back to order, they refuse to collaborate.
After listening to them all, the coordinator took the floor to make them understand again the need to be educated, to have a diploma and to face his responsibilities instead of fleeing them. He urges them to pull themselves together. He asks the managers of the centers to monitor them closely and not to hesitate to report their slightest mistake to the Administration Committee of SPES Togo.
Grandpa GBEDEY joined the Coordinator in pointing out that it is shameful to see them behave in this way. Because it is their duty to leave good examples to others. He asks them to behave in a wise and humble manner towards everyone because it will reflect on them as a blessing.
The psychologist then took the floor to thank especially Father Claude and Mr. Henry for the love they bear for these children by coming to help them to recover and become aware of their act. He promises with the help of the management to always accompany them as best as possible for their better future.
Finally, the Director thanked the whole committee on behalf of herself and the adolescents for their availability and their unwavering support for the children of SPES Lomé. She asks teenagers to be serene in everything they do to positively mark their transition to SPES and to take advantage of all the advice they have just received. She promises, with their own collaboration, to help them meet the challenge they have been challenged: to succeed and to become responsible adults of tomorrow.
A copy of the rules of procedure and code of conduct was again distributed to all staff.
Grandpa GBEDEY urges staff to organize themselves better so that they can better celebrate May 1, 2020, which remains the workers' holiday.

MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting was held, chaired by the director and conducted by Cyriaque in the presence of the psychologist.

In the center of the teenagers, everyone is doing well, there has been no case of illness this month. Adolescents, especially college kids are reluctant to come to home studies at night, you always have to be after them. The director then asked each college student to recite his lesson for the next day.
He points out that teenagers in the 1st class start to take an interest in the repetitions of the German course which is their basic subject.
Papa urges all the staff to redouble their efforts because he noticed that there is a little loosening at the level of the supervision the evening time during the studies. He however congratulated Honoré for his dedication to repeating the children every night.
He encourages dormitory moms to be united to better educate children and manage their dormitory worries.
The directot spoke in turn to convey his wishes of health and happiness to all the staff. She calls on the staff to be on time and to avoid abusive trips as much as possible. In terms of education, she urges all repeater staff to redouble their efforts to meet the challenge in the second quarter. She reiterated the importance of napping for all children and asked moms to make sure this is done.
Finally, she announced the feast of 10 years that celebrates SPES Kpalimé this February 24 and therefore a delegation will visit Kpalimé for the said holiday.
The psychologist, for his part, reminds the staff that he is a service provider and not a staff and his goal is to help the children in the running of the house and the success of their future life. He calls to this end all the staff to love the children in the way so as not to create jealousy between the children themselves and sometimes even between a staff and a child.

Malaria is more common in the house due to the rainy season that we are currently experiencing.
SCHOOLING
Major compositions and exams for the 2017-2018 academic year have been completed. All our children are already at home and we are waiting for the end of year results.
MONTHLY MEETING
Our monthly meeting was held on July 20, led by the Director and deputy Director. The dormitory tour revealed only cases of malaria that are being treated. Games and small leisure activities have resumed. A new program is being implemented by the cultural activities facilitator for the organization of the holidays.
Cases of rudeness and untidiness on the part of the older girls have been reported by the Mamans. The director promised to talk to them which she completed before her departure on leave. She advises the Mamans to be more patient and tolerant towards them. In the other sections, no special problems have been reported.
The teenagers' house has not had any cases of malaria. With the compositions and exams being finished, the managers set up a new schedule for the commencement of holidays. The children’s free time is devoted to the library, the games and the manual work (maintenance of the house). The behaviour of our teenagers is poor at times with slippages that we always try to correct.
To keep children safe at home, the deputy director asked the Mamans to help the facilitator in her activities with the children so that there are no other children lying around. The director urges the mothers to ensure the control of children at various games on Wednesdays and Saturdays when the host is at the French Institute with older children.
Staff behaviour, especially among the Mamans have evolved positively in the area of surveillance and accountability this month. The director commends this improvement and asks everyone to make greater effort for the smooth running of the house asking them to remain with the children.
In view of the increase in malaria cases, the director, in consultation with the staff, decided that after dinner, television time would run until 9.00pm so that by 10.00pm everyone would be in their dormitory. The waking hours will be set back from 5.00am to 6.00am during the holidays. However, the nap hours remain unchanged and observing the nap-time remains mandatory for all children during these holidays. She urges Mamans to always help the children clean their dorms and cupboards and to always keep the house clean.
MISCELLANEOUS
After having arranged with the President, the director informed the staff that the Adolescent House will be closed until the next school year as all teenagers go on vacation. The adults responsible in this centre will also leave for their holidays in August. will also leave for their holidays this August. This will save money in terms of food and electricity bills.
Management has considered some holiday activities such as beading, painting, batik for our children who will stay in the centre during these holidays. This is to get them to acquire new knowledge in other areas. We will also organize small outings (picnics) at the beach or in playgrounds.
We spent the month of April calm in all areas except school in public schools.
HEALTH
This month there were few illnesses. Nevertheless, the first rains fell with the proliferation of mosquitoes which will lead to the epidemic of malaria for the months of June, July and August. To cope with this, we have gathered a substantial stock of antimalarial products.
SCHOOLING
Classes continue but there have been many strikes in all the public schools attended by our children. At the Kélégougan State Primary School, some principals did not organize the first and second quarter compositions because of the teachers' strike.
MONTHLY MEETING
Our monthly meeting was held on Saturday, April 14th. It was chaired by the Director and led by Cyriaque, the Deputy Director in the presence of the psychologist and all staff present.
After the tour of the dormitories, the Mamans talked about the difficulties of some children facing studies and some misunderstandings between Mamans and the children.
The psychologist commented that some children have difficulties with specific Mamans. To this end, he asks them to consult together to better manage the difficulties inside the dormitories.
In the adolescents' home, the new arrangements made for the studies are followed and soon the results of the compositions will determine the efforts of our teenagers. However, it is to be noted that they lack much humility; this is expressed by the fact that they do not like to help each other. The psychologist promises to meet them more often for individual and group interviews.
Papa Martin calls all Mamans to improve relationships between themselves and to educate the children in the same spirit and with great love to sow the spirit of solidarity in the home. Alicia joined the group of trainees. For all those who are in vocational training, there are no problems to report.
When the Director spoke, she congratulated everyone for the work that is done on a daily basis in the house. She urges all staff to re-read the rules very often to comply with the rules of conduct of the house. She informed the audience that the code of conduct is posted to the management and to the entrance of the refectory.
She asked them to select the group and dormitory leaders; to resume the game sessions once a week (Saturday) for two hours under the obligatory supervision of the cultural coordinator and the Mamans.
The psychologist asks that they be made to understand that games are not the priority.
The director congratulates the Mamans for respecting the nap time at the centre. She also asked that children be accompanied to the kitchen in order to help the cooks to better accomplish their tasks.
Speaking, the psychologist thanked the audience and asked all the staff to show more affection to Charbel because he really needed it. He reminds Mamans to do what is necessary to protect our teenage daughters in the making of their remarks to not hurt or offend them because it can lead some to be very arrogant. Finally, the director read in front of all the staff the code of conduct. She emphasized good conduct and what should not be done in the centre.
February is a month unlike any other. As in the past, we had received many visitors this month.
HEALTH
We have had a few cases of coughs and malaria.

MONTHLY MEETING
The usual monthly staff meeting was held in the Lomé SPES centre under the direction of the Director, Mrs MENSAH accompanied on that occasion by the psychologist. All staff were present at this meeting. The director opened the meeting at 8:00 am and gave the floor to Mathy, for the reading of the minutes of the past meeting, then the agenda.
The facilitator spoke to inform the audience that a part of the study room was being set up as a library by the teenagers.

These will be secured with lock and key, with one key at the trainee’s disposal, another with be held by the Mamans and the third at the level of the Directorate.
At the teenage centre, there were no health concerns nor fighting among teenagers. The chores being assigned, each child fulfilled his or her responsibilities. With their studies, there are always a minority who do not like coming to the study sessions with Mamans and others who do not take notes in class. Faced with this challenge, the Director expressed her concerns asking for solutions from the floor more follow-up and more personalized supervision, in order to obtain better results at the end of the school year.
To this effect the Deputy Director asked the Mamans who assist with revision sessions to approach the teachers who are responsible for the children for more information and advice. He also asks the Mamans to start the activities at 4pm, as soon as the students arrive home. These activities will consist of helping the child to study the lessons of the following day and to revise what has already been done in class. Also, it is always good to ensure the study sessions are fun for the children, with fun activities (singing, dancing and other indoor games).
the director of teens, adds that it is important to consult the school teachers to understand what we must teach children. He stressed that it is not good to compare children, but rather to congratulate those who work well and encourage those who cannot do better.
Nevertheless, study is very important for an individual who wants to future success. For this, it is important for all of us to know why children do not want to learn. He offered to make the results of his psychological assessment very soon available to the Directorate so that each child is followed in a specific way.
