Miscellaneous
WEATHER
We have experienced a lot of rain in September 2024 compared to August.
This change has weighed on the profitability of cereal crops.
This has an impact on the significant increase in prices, which does not suit anyone
SCHOOLING
The majority of children are currently on holiday with their parents.
There are still thirteen in the house, (13) very young, three (03) apprentices and one student at the INFA in charge of ten (10) staff.
According to the official calendar of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the start of the school year of the 2024-2025 academic year is scheduled for Monday, September 16, 2024.
We know that the past year has not been so kind to most students and parents.
Faced with this general decline in the success rate of exams throughout the national territory, another method of supervising children will be required this year at the centre in order to dispel any ambiguity.
An excursion is planned for Monday, September 09, 2024 to Atakpamé, the Ogou prefecture.
A letter requesting permission to leave our environment is sent to the prefecture for signature. This is conditional on an envelope of five thousand (5000) CFA francs.
TRAINING/APPRENTICESHIPS
The three (03) in-house apprentices courageously continue their training. The same goes for the pre-adolescent in Lomé and the otherone in Kpalimé on the outpatient side.

We gave them the SPES website before their departure around 5 p.m.
On Monday, August 19, 2024 at 8 a.m., the center welcomed the new psychologist.
Indeed, despite the absence of the Director on leave in Lomé, she was received by the staff present and the very small children.

One teenager spent two weeks with the Director in Lomé.
The gardening work continues with ardor and determination of the driver and the cultural animator. The new beds for legumes were made on August 22, 23, 24, 26, and 27, 2024 after weeding the cassava plot.
Currently, we have made seeds of Adémé and carrots. Adémé's vegetables will be fresh and edible from the start of the school year. Lettuce and cabbage nurseries have been set up but the snails have destroyed the large quantity of cabbages.
The lettuces were not able to germinate. We'll try again soon.

WEATHER
We recorded the first rains on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

SCHOOLING
The distribution of the report cards for the third quarter and second semester of cycles I and II was effective on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Zomayi High School.
The transcripts of the various exams (BEPC/ BAC1/ BAC2) were also received.
These results are not at all encouraging overall.
All parents wonder about the factors that came into play. It was noted that the results were catastrophic throughout the national territory. Here are the examples of the results of the students in the third year of the Zomayi/Kpalimé High School:
3rd A: 21 admitted / 64 enrolled
3rd B: 21/65
3rd C: 17/66
3rd D: 16/69
Total admitted : 75/263 as 29,29 %.
The same is true for the other colleges.
For many, this is due to a shared responsibility between the government, parents and students for reasons of the new education system, the irresponsibility of some parents and the laziness of the students themselves.
But, according to this analysis, we can say that SPES has given these children every possible chance of success in economic, moral, socio-cultural terms, etc.
Currently, most of them have returned to their families for the holidays.
LEARNING
At this level, there are no major problems in the work.
The rounds made by Uncle Dodzi and Mama Essé attest to us that everything is fine and that there are some slight improvements.
HEALTH
Some children have suffered from malaria and are being treated.

The Coordinator returned on Saturday, July 27, 2024, still in the morning, with some members of his family from outside.
He had the opportunity to discuss with the Director, the Adolescent Coordinator and the Cultural Animator so that efforts can be made to help the children work harder to get back on track next year.

As for their work, they are all regular and show enthusiasm.
But it is noticed that everyone has the problem of welcoming customers.

After appropriate care given to those who are victims this June, they are all doing well to this day.
In this cool time, our children often get sick. This is normal in relation to the current weather!

Sessions during which they praised the effort of the supervisory staff because during their stay, they were surprised to see some changes in some of them.
Even if some ailments are not easy to contain, such as theft, at least late outings have decreased considerably.
In short, all their sessions follow a well-structured program.
Before leaving, they had a review meeting with the staff of SPES KPALIME.
Online communications continue between SPES TOGO and international members, sponsors, parents and the director.

The results of the first semester of high school students arrived on March 29, 2021 and are recorded in the table below:
We have noticed that the results of the first trimester of children in primary school are not at all satisfactory compared to those of middle and high school students considered acceptable. Based on our experience, we have found that there are several factors that come into play in the success or failure of our children:
lack of will of some to study properly;
others may work well but due to peer pressure, they are lazy;
the introduction of a new education system APC (Skills Approaches) by the Togolese government leads students to fail because teachers themselves experience difficulties or do not know the appropriate methodologies;
The donations that SPES gives to schools encourage good grades, even if they have not done well; some of our children often pass in higher classes by indulgence;
the current level of all the students seems the same, declared the Principal of Zomayi High School during the parents' meeting in which we took part on Wednesday February 24, 2021;
In view of these results, we convened all the parents of the children who failed for this first term in the first cycle of secondary school, on Saturday March 20, 2021. In fact, out of ten (10) parents concerned, eight (08) responded to our invitation. The staff who took part in this meeting were : The Director, her Deputy and the cultural facilitator. The session started 9 am and was chaired by the Director. Reports were distributed to parents in the presence of their children. About 20 minutes were given to parents and their children to discuss their work. In turn, they produced tips and encouraged them to increase their efforts to improve their results soon. The Director and her colleagues in turn, invited the children to show greater interest in their studies as well as to have fun. She raised the issue of the young girls going through puberty. She finally thanked the parents for their goodwill and attention. The parents also thanked SPES, the godparents, the donors, the staff, in short all those who intervene in favour of the education and the well-being of their children.
