The main objective for problem set 1 was to quickly and effectively begin to get comfortable with some of the analysis and design tools that our team will be using over the course of the quarter with special attention to how they will become applicable to the design of our own aircraft. The main tool for accomplishing this was the Bixler 2: a mass-produced RC aircraft that we assembled and flew using the Pixhawk autopilot and a variety of sensors that were placed in various positions on the aircraft including a GPS receiver, pitot tube, accelerometers, etc.
