PoetsWest is a Seattle-based website focusing on poets and poetry in the Pacific Northwest, run by J. Glenn Evans. The site offers poetry and reviews, a who’s who in Northwest poets, and listings of venues with regular readings, plus links to selected poetry resources. PoetsWest coordinates various venues, provides a network for poets, and produces a weekly program on KSER 90.7 FM in Everett, Washington, syndicated through the Pacifica Radio network and AudioPort.org.

Reading for PoetsWest are Tiel Aisha Ansari, Art Gomez, Kevin J. O’Conner, and Rayn Roberts

See the Facebook event.

Tiel Aisha Ansari is a Sufi warrior poet. Her work has been featured by Fault Lines Poetry, Windfall, KBOO, and Prairie Home Companion. Her books include Knocking from Inside and High-Voltage Lines. She works as a data analyst for the Portland Public School district and is president of the Oregon Poetry Association. Her website is knockingfrominside.blogspot.com .

Art Gomez was born and crazed in Omaha, Nebraska, and moved to Seattle in 1981. Art’s poems have been published by Spindrift, Poets Against War, Bard Ball, Epiphany, Poetic Matrix, Seattle Muse, Poetry + Motion, Minotaur Press, and PoetsWest radio. Art is currently the host of the PoetsWest program at Seattle’s Green Lake library.

Kevin J. O’Conner feels that poetry is more important than biography. He publishes the best (or least horrible) of each day’s poems on his blog. Once he accumulates enough poems he deems worthy, he publishes a book. His latest is This Is Not the Book That Will Save Your Life.

Rayn Roberts says, “I’m a puppeteer. I dangle figures on stage to share insights and poke fun. Robert Frost and Charles Bukowski taught me this. What mystifies me is that many of my puppets are actually published as poems.” Find him at Poetic Matrix Press and his website.
