Pleasure Boat Studio is a nonprofit literary press is dedicated to enriching readers with eye-opening stories and poetry by incredible talent, with heart, originality, and love of language. Forthcoming will be the first issue of a potentially biannual zine. We are currently accepting submissions for poetry, art, photography, haiku, and short essays. Visit the website.


Featuring Lauren Grosskopf, Jared Leising, and John Christopher Nelson

Lauren Grosskopf, a native Seattleite, is publisher and book designer for Pleasure Boat Studio, a small, independent press. She lives in West Seattle where she is a grateful mama to an awesome eight year old named Maude. Lauren occasionally paints or makes other visual art during her free time. Jared Leising grew up in the Midwest, and is the author of a chapbook, The Widows and Orphans of Winesburg, Ohio. Before moving to Seattle, he received his MFA in creative writing from the University of Houston. In 2000, Jared began teaching English at Cascadia College, and continues to do so. For the past few years he’s also been coteaching a creative writing class for women at the King County Jail.


John Christopher Nelson’s youth was split between ninety-four acres of chaparral in East County San Diego and a defunct mining town in the Nevada high desert. He has moved thirty times and currently lives in West Seattle. He earned his BA in American Literature from UCLA and is a graduate of the Stonecoast MFA in creative writing.
