Elizabeth Austen’s author interviews and recordings of Seattle-area poetry readings can be heard every Monday on “The Beat” on KUOW, 94.9, public radio. She was one of the regional poets featured at the 2006 Skagit River Poetry Festival in La Connor, Wash. and performs regularly at Pacific Northwest venues. Her poems have appeared in journals including the Bellingham Review, Swivel, the Seattle Review, Switched-on Gutenberg, and the anthologies Poets Against the War and Pontoon. Elizabeth teaches regularly throughout western Washington, including classes at Seattle’s Richard Hugo House and guest artist visits to schools and colleges. Christine Deavel is co-owner of Open Books: A Poem Emporium (www.openpoetrybooks.com), a poetry-only bookstore located in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood. Her chapbook, Box of Little Spruce, was published by LitRag Press in 2005. Her work has appeared in APR, Fence, The Iowa Review, Ploughshares, Volt, and other magazines.
