For International Students

Congratulations on your admission to Sophia University!

We expect there may be foreign exchange students who have an interest in the Japanese Archery Club (Kyuudou Club) of Sophia university. However, there are some conditions to joining.

1. Acceptance conditions:

・Be able to communicate effectively in Japanese (preferably around JLPT N2-N1 proficiency)

・Outside of academic classes and studying, make sure that you give priority to Japanese Archery over other circles or personal events

・Please understand that you should put aside enough time to practice 4-5 times every week (1 hour sessions)

2. Reason for above conditions:

・ Due to the nature of Japanese Archery, there are dangers involved which require the attention and understanding of the members. For this reason, Japanese proficiency is relatively important for joining our club when compared with other circles or clubs.

・You will be affiliated with the Japanese Archery club of Sophia so it is expected that you put in the same amount of time and effort as a regular club member

・Since the period of your exchange program is relatively short, (Six months to one year) in order to get as much enjoyment as possible out of joining the club it is important to be involved as much as you can in club activities

Currently, we have an Indian student and two Chinese students who were accepted with the above conditions now.

If you have any questions concerning the Japanese Archery Club, please drop by our booth during freshman week or come down to our dojo in the grounds located beside the campus. It is possible to observe our members practicing Japanese Archery whether you have an interest in joining the club or not. (Our dojo is located behind the baseball field near the south side of the grounds).

This blog will continue to be updated with information after this post.

If you have an interest in the Japanese Archery Club, please stop by. We are looking forward to meeting you!
