Sonja Reynolds has 33 years of horn teaching experience, including nine years at The Music School and over twenty years with the American Fork band programs. She completed a horn performance degree at Brigham Young University and has studied under such well-known instructors as Dr. Ellen Powley, Dr. Randy Faust, Laurence Lowe and Ronald Beitel.

Sonja has toured with BYU’s top ensembles and The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps nationwide, to the Middle East and the Orient, and was selected as the Utah Valley Symphony Young Artist Soloist in 1993 and also for several Utah Intercollegiate Bands.
She is the President of the Utah Premiere Brass (President; solo tenor horn, 12 years; manager, 10 years), a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square and an active freelance artist in the Salt Lake area including with Ballet West and the Utah Symphony. Sonja is also and co-founder of the Utah Horn Club.
In addition to having students selected to attend the Interlochen Arts Camp, many of Sonja's students have received college music scholarships at schools such as the San Francisco Conservatory, are regularly accepted to All State, and are themselves pursuing careers in music.
Sonja founded the Utah Alphorn Day in 2016 and joined the AlpenSong company in 2023. She has since left her position as Executive Director to pursue alphorn manufacturing via Reynolds Alphorns (see below; site will be live by May 2025). Her new packable Alphorn is on schedule to be available by the summer of 2025.
