There is currently one project within the ACIAR forestry programme in Solomon Islands:
The project seeks to promote: the use of agroforestry in Solomon Islands for the growing of high value timber trees; the growing of trees for local use; the sustainable rehabilitation of degraded forests and the development of a sustainable smallholder forestry industry. The philosophy underpinning this approach is the use of agroforestry to provide sustainable incomes for growers through the life of the plantation, not just at the harvesting of the trees.
The project is funded by the
Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research
