Katherine Chretien, MD

Associate Professor, George Washington University; Medicine Clerkship Director, Washington DC VA Medical Center

I am a hospitalist at the Washington DC VA Medical Center and also the Medicine Clerkship Director for the inpatient clerkship at the VA. I started a personal blog in 2006 and began using private blogs for reflective writing in the medicine clerkship the following year. In 2008, I started a group blog called Mothers in Medicine, as an online community for physician-mothers to share their stories and to serve as a resource for support for women in medicine. My research interests include professionalism, social media in medicine, reflective writing, and patient-centered care. I write for several blogs and joined Twitter (http://twitter.com/MotherinMed) in early 2010.

Vineet Arora, MD, MAPP

Associate Professor, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine

I am an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency and Assistant Dean of Scholarship & Discovery at the Pritzker School of Medicine for the University of Chicago. My own education and research focus is on resident duty hours, patient handoffs, medical professionalism, and quality & safety of hospital care. I am interested in the use of social media and video technology to promote all aspects of medical education. I maintain an active Twitter feed and blog under the moniker FutureDocs and have advised many physicians and physician groups on how to use social media. As an academic hospitalist, I supervise residents and students caring for adult inpatients.

Carrie L. Saarinen, MEdInstructional Technologist II, University of Massachusetts Medical School As an instructional technologist, I am responsible for coordinating, implementing and maintaining many of the academic technology functions of the department of medicine at UMass Medical School. My responsibilities include design, editing, consultation, and assistance relating to instructional technology and Web development. I am a member of the university's Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC) as well as the course director and lecturer for a seminar series in social media. Ben Ferguson, BSMD/PhD Candidate, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine

I am currently a PhD candidate in cancer biology and a medical student at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and the Committee on Cancer Biology. In my spare time, I work extensively with the Office of Admissions at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and produce the Pritzker Podcast, an online radio program focused on educating premedical students and medical school applicants about the Pritzker School of Medicine and the broader process of applying to medical school.
