February is Black History Month and Blacks/African Americans bear the greatest burden of HIV/AIDS out of all the ethnic groups in the United States.
Did you know African Americans are the racial/ethnic group most affected by HIV, according to the CDC? African Americans account for 44% of all new HIV infections among people 13 years and older. Of those, 29% are among African-American women. Reasons for these high rates can be attributed to lack of awareness of HIV status, stigma, fear, and discrimination. On February 7th, help SNPhA raise awareness of HIV testing among African Americans in our communities so we can reduce transmission!
