Infant Program

Each infant will be on an individual schedule, depending on the infant’s needs and the parent’s desires. We offer responsive care, which simply means we respond to their signals. If a baby cries we investigate what s/he needs and meet that need. We build our attachments by being warm and responsive. Curriculum for infants revolves around their interactions with the teachers and peers. They will be provided with an environment that stimulates small and large muscle coordination, the senses, creative expression, language and socialization. Infants will be held during bottle feedings. We have a swing, bouncy seat and exersaucer that we rotate and may use for short periods of time. Use of these is limited as we believe it is better for the child to be held or to be on the floor working on skills such as social interaction and strengthening muscles. We listen to music and the teachers move with them.

Families are welcome to come in and play with their child. Please ask before picking up someone else’s child. I know they are adorable; however; some children are sensitive and may become upset when something out of their routine occurs. We are supportive of nursing mothers who may want to nurse in the infant room. We will afford you as much privacy as possible that you desire. We have baby slings and snuggli’s we use to carry infants. We have a refrigerator to freeze or refrigerate breast milk and formula. If you use cloth diapers, we have separate containers/ waterproof bags to place soiled diapers. When a child reaches about 12 months or sooner if they show interest, we will include them in some young toddler room activities.
