Preschool Classroom

Our preschool curriculum integrates the development of social/emotional, physical, cognitive (thinking), and language skills throughout all aspects of each child’s day. Our classroom is designed to facilitate the development of these skills through the various learning centers. Our observations, assessment and goals are based on each child’s ability to:

Learn a sense of self, responsibility for self and others, and develop pro-social behavior.

Develop gross (large muscle) skills such as hopping, jumping, balancing, throwing and fine (small muscle) skills such as drawing, cutting, lacing, pouring, and sorting.

Attain problem solving skills; develop logical thinking such as classifying, comparing, sequencing, recognizing patterns, counting.

Expand on symbolic thinking such as role playing, make believe/pretend play.

Continue to develop listening and speaking skills: to express self in words and sentences, follow oral directions, ask questions, participate in conversations and to develop an awareness of the alphabet, and an appreciation and enjoyment of literature.

Our preschool classroom serves ages 3 to 5 years old. Pre-K programming is implemented for all 4-5 year olds the year before they go to kindergarten.
