dimensioning sections

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question to ask...

Is it possible to dimension sections and be able to snap to them ?

Any one have an answer ?

Hi Julian

The dimension tool won't snap to section planes, it requires actual geometry. What you can do is right click your section plane and choose "create group from slice". This creates the exact geometry (edges) of your slice which you'll be able to dimension to.

Oops...

Apparently the dimension tool will snap to intesections of section planes and edges. This should allow you to dimension a section cut without having to create the slice geometry. See attached

Thanks Bryce for the tip...

I went back and fiddled with the model and discovered that the snapping can only occur if the "TOGGLE SECTION PLANE DISPLAY" is ON.

Otherwise the dimension tool will NOT snap to any of the sectioned intersections.
