Hi all,
Years ago, I used the animation feature, on another 3D program, to make buildings appear by making them grow from the ground.
and now for SU...
is it possible to have a ruby that push/pulls selected faces automatically thus creating animation with pages?
lets say that I have a simple box (representing a house).
the top face is selected with a special mark. Then, I create a page.
In the next page that I will add, that marked face with push/pull itself x centimeter higher.
animating the pages will have the illusion that the buildings grow from below.

See what SketchyReplay can do and how it is doing it:

pushpull may not be suitable because it alters permanently the intrinsic geometry of objects.
In contrast, transformations can be applied and recalled at will against an immutable model.

Make a group of the required 'block'. Copy it several times on top of itself and then push-pull/scale each one by the required amounts. Place them on separate layers and make a set of pages that switch the layers on/off in turn so that in a slide-show or a movie the 'block' will appear to grow. The more steps you make the smoother it will look...

Or just add two hidden section planes - one at ground level and above the final height of the building. Then set two pages with Section 1 active in the first and Section 2 active in the second - your page transitions will create a smooth growth of your building for you - no geometry affected. See the attached file and click for page 2 - speed is controlled by the tourguide settings under Model Info.
