Good thing - SU6 is great in that you can now have different sizes of text and dimension text and you can assign fixed heights relative to the model.
Good thing - Dimension text even stays flat (ie doesnt always face the camera).
Bad thing - I was wondering why normal text couldnt do this too (it insists on facing the camera).
Bad thing - Although you can now change the font size of individual text items, it starts as 'default', and then requires you to edit it. Having done that, you cannot clone the various text styles for fresh text entries. You always need to start with the default and go through the edit process.
Good thing - I have just invented a nice workaround using dimension text and component gluing. You can edit dimension text, therefore if you have a tiny insignificant line and dimension it, you can then turn it into 'text'. This means you can have your text lying flat relative to surfaces. The other good thing about saving text as 'components' is you can preset as many as you like and drag them into any model.
The attached file has 2 'text components'.
After opening the skp, open your Components pane and check for 'in model' . .then drag them out. Explode them then edit your text.

Hi Stuartb,
Thanks for posting.

Thanks Bil.What are the chances that regular text will evolve to work like this I wonder?

stuartb, I think you just published the steps on how the text tool has evolved. Thanks.

catamountain, this is how I would like the text tool to work. At the moment it is a clumsy workaround . . albeit an inspired and brilliant one! I would like some clever person on here to improve upon it if possible.
