GENDER AND ECONOMICS WORKSHOPS

Department of Economics and Management
In collaboration with Anastasia Litina, I proudly launched the Gender and Economics Workshops in 2019. These international workshops serve as a platform for leading scholars and junior researchers to come together and engage in critical discussions surrounding various aspects of gender economics. Our goal is to foster an inclusive environment where innovative ideas can be exchanged and explored.
Eva Sierminska, Luisito Bertinelli, and Hillel Rapoport, joined forces with us in 2023.
The workshops cover a broad spectrum of topics within the field of economics, encompassing areas such as education, health, cultural economics, law and economics, labor, migration, political economy, game theory, and experimental research. This wide-ranging approach allows participants to delve into the multifaceted ways in which gender intersects with economic phenomena.
In addition to thought-provoking presentations and discussions, each workshop features two poster sessions dedicated to PhD students who are conducting research on gender-related topics. This provides an invaluable opportunity for emerging scholars to showcase their work, receive constructive feedback, and network with established academics in the field.
Beginning with the third edition of the workshops, we introduced a prestigious Prize for Young Economists, aimed at recognizing outstanding contributions from junior researchers. We are pleased to announce that the inaugural winner of this prize was Anousheh Alamir, who was honored for her job market paper titled ““Effects of conflicts on intimate partner violence: Evidence from Mexico” (2024).
