Snow Saws

2013-02-03

We had planned a snow camping trip to Mt. Rainier with our Scout Troop and decided to make an igloo. So we made our own snow saws. We took two flat bars of aluminum and secured them edge to edge and drilled several holes down the center to create half-circle saw teeth. For the handle we split a large dowel and fastened it with screws and barrel nuts. The tangs were cut with a saber saw and filed smooth. These turned out very good for cutting snow. We made part of the igloo but ran out of time to finish the roof so we slept in our tent.
