Give standard bird name or code: example - Common Raven, or CORA

--- If unable to determine species, give genus level name + "sp.": example - Grebe sp.

--- If able to tell form, please include: example - Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon)

--- for Bald Eagles, note adult or immature if possible

If you can identify a bird by sound, it is OK to include it even if not seen.

Rare Birds: If you see an unusual species or form (birds that are out of range, season,

or difficult to identify) take thorough field notes of identifying characteristics, get photo if possible.

List birds and give maximum counts:

IMPORTANT! record intermediate counts of the number of birds of a species or form, visible or within earshot, at any one time. The maximum count will be the largest of these intermediate counts. Do not continuously sum all of the birds that come within sight or earshot.

For example, at various times during the day, you see groups of 4, 15, 12 and 13 robins. The maximum count would be 15 (NOT 44).
